Experimental Products - "Modern Living"
The song was written in 1982 and talks about how "the science fiction movie's coming true" thanks to all of the advanced and futuristic technology that was beginning to be unveiled at the time.
Makes me wonder what the band things 30+ years later given what all we have now.
edit -
I also find it interesting that the bit featured on the cover looks like the state of Utah.
In the time period since the song was released, Utah's become a surprisingly major player in software and gadgets thanks to the numerous small- and medium-sized businesses that are located in the state.

Is it just me, or does Dolby bear some resemblance to Alton Brown?

You're welcome! It is surprsingly difficult to find a version with James Taylor singing the song and not a Toy Story (Randy Newman) montage...

This is my grandfather’s favourite song, he always asks me to sing it for him whenever I visit him. & he’s asked me to sing it at his funeral which is kinda depressing on two fronts.
Firstly because he’ll be dead when I’m singing it, & secondly because despite what he thinks I can’t sing! But for some strange reason he thinks I can which is why he said he wants me to sing it at his funeral.

I’m trying to teach my God-daughter the list of the US Presidents so I found & downloaded this song for her. If anyone knows of a better one though then PLEASE let me know. Sadly this song stops at Bill Clinton so I had to make up the following lines about Bush & Obama. George W. Bush Jr he took on Iraq; His speeches drew a bunch of flack. Socially he had no tack & Much moral fibre he did lack.
Barack Obama said, "Yes, we can!" And got us out of Iraq! (Yeah, but he's still working on Afghanistan...) He's doing what he can - blame it on the Republicans

Ok it’s not a song but I love this video. A friend sent me this & I couldn’t stop laughing. Apparently in the UK there is a children’s TV show called Horrible Histories where they do short skits about various things from history. In this one they do a spoof involving the great mad & bad Lord Byron, using the ever hated Twilight series. The end result is called Twit Light (a name I think they should have used for the movies.) Enjoy!

Here's a personal favorite of mine. TOOL. A metal band for the free thinking individual with an interest in science. This particular video explains a lot of things that you probably wouldn't pick up on by yourself, unless you're a hardcore math nerd. Even if you're not a fan of metal, go ahead and give it a listen and read the text and just admire the intricacy with which this piece of music was crafted. With most other bands, singers or musicians you come away with exactly what they wanted you to - nothing more and nothing less. The beauty of what TOOL does is that you always seem to find something new in their music when you really listen. I've been a fan for about ten years and I can still put on one of their songs and go: "Wow! Never noticed that part before!". The most amazing part is that there are some things you catch when you're listening intently that you won't catch if you just put it on as background music and other things that are so subtle that the only way to pick up on them is to not conciously listen for them. Even if you don't want to think that much about the music you listen to, this is just a beautiful song with a beautiful message that I think most of you here will be able to appreciate. It's not just music. It's an experience. Hope you enjoy

Since I've already introduced you to TOOL, here's another one that you might like.
In many threads on this board we end up discussing how the media twist things to cater to people's bloodlust and desire to be outraged. And let's face it. We may want to blame the media, but if there wasn't a market for it, they wouldn't do it.
That's what this song is about. Not the media, but the market they cater to and the fact that it's actually a natural part of who we are as human beings.

No matter what your political views are or what you think of Bill Clinton you have to admit this is funny. I couldn’t stop laughing!

I’ve been rocking out to this song all day while cleaning my flat - I’ve had it on a continuous loop all day. But I think the neighbours are getting a bit peeved at me cause they’ve just put Ozzy Osborne on & cranked it to 11 to drown out my stereo. So now Billy Idol is now competing with Bark at the Moon.
