Baseball... Now THERE'S a game I'll never understand has become a popular spectator sport! It's fun to play, but holy crap it's boring to watch!!! Almost as boring as soccer and cricket, but only almost. golf is still more boring to watch, but I'll actually watch it before I watch football, basketball, or baseball. Forgot all about golf. And snooker.

My best guess is that "floorball" is too popular as a "players-sport" for handball to really count.
Floorball is basically hockey without the ice, played indoors, it isn't much of a tv/spectator sport, but a large part of the population play it.

In the US, we have street hockey (sneakers worn) & roller hockey (rollerblades worn) for warmer times of the year.

I posted a while back about the Un-Happy situation on Monday Nigh football of my local team FC United. Well, here is the news.... Photo from the BBC site.. (With full match report) www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34695750This banner was INSIDE the stadium, along with a few others. There were some very noisy protests outside the ground before the match, and those protesters stayed outside for most of the first half. Here is the rub... Its approx £67 thousand shared half and half between the two teams, with an extra £12 grand for the winner, and half the gate receipts each, as a financial "Encouragement" to play ball. Thats not much?.. for a team two leagues below the other, in this FA Cup draw, thats A lot... its more than will pay the wages bill. The team FC United do not employ their players "Full time", in that they have jobs elsewhere, and may have had to get the evening off work to play on a monday. Do the FA (Football association of UK) care?... no. If you dont play ball, they can throw you out of the league. Its this kind of objection to the rules of the FA that created FC United in the first place. So can the FA make complaints to the board if FC united about the protests?... Good luck with that... Its a FANS owned club... one member one vote... and as you are aware, the fans are the ones objecting?... There were incidents of fans chanting abuse towards the TV coverage, abuse towards Manchester United, and abuse towards Manchester City. "Freedom of speech" As NONE of it was either racially motivated, inflammatory or directly derogatory of any target, but all "personal opinion", there cant really be any complaint. Why the abuse?.. Because the FA ruled that they MUST increase their gate price... The cost of the ticket that the ans had already agreed to keep to an affordable level had to be increased on the orders of the FA. Neither team had any say in that. This team is wholly against the "Stupid prices" of modern day football. This is why they formed... to play football as a team that is affordable by the working man at reasonable prices, with no greedy financial backers... one member, one vote. They are formed in protest against the UN-Affordable prices of Premier league. There may be repercussions... From what I hear, "Bring it on", all of this argument brings their point into the lime-light, and there is no such thing as bad advertising in this case. If the FA decide to "Bully" this team, then it will show them up for what they are. FC United are Rising Stars, they have nothing to hide, and want the exposure. I am seriously considering supporting this return to the sort of football we used to have when I was young... In my days, a ticket to the stands at Manchester United was £6:50.

baseball got the title "the american pastime" because American families used to spend their weekday afternoons at the local ballpark. this involved it being an affordable thing to do.

After a minutes silence yesterday evening and a rendition of the French National Anthem my team went on to play Tolouse in the European Rugby Cup, who are the urgent holders. We beat them 32-7 dominating the first half, with a pretty even second half. To be honest you could not blame them if they had decided to postpone the match. It was a shocking reminder of what had happened the night before to see armed police guarding entrances that normally just had our 'Pioneers' manning them. www.saracens.com/pioneers/

Just caught this now. New Zealand rugby union star Jonah Lomu dies aged 40For those who don't know, Jonah Lomu was THE idol for every rugby-playing kid during the 90's and early 2000's. Doesn't matter what team you supported, every fan respected and admired him and every player wished they could play like him. He transformed the way the game was played. He will be missed.

I am devastated. I knew he had a rare kidney complaint, and had already had a transplant, and needed daily dialysis, but was not aware how "serious" it was... And he was here in UK not that long ago promoting world rugby. He taught us that you can, if you want, go round another player, but there is another way, go through them.... With a smile...

I know someone who hopes he stays fit and healthy for as long as possible. But then again they have been a Sky Blue since 1976.

That's not political, selecting palin as your vp is political suicide and any sensible person could have predicted it.

However, I favour the FC United breakaway team more than United, but when it comes to taking the rise outa City fans, I am United. But Shreks Donkey [rooney] is not my favourite Man U player... I also wish him to just stop playing and messing up for the teams sake.
