but the big ones aren't made to fly. No, they are not. I'm still not 100% convinced they are really Jeeps. The Name Jeep, General All Purpose, Ge-AP, got pronounced Geap, became Jeep. If its not all purpose, it cant be a jeep?... As in, how the hell did they manage to make one that doesnt "Fly" when needed?.. thats like making a land-rover that cant go off-road... Oh, hang on a moment, Range-Rover "Evoke", nominated as a "soft-roader", cant manage a slippery wet bit of crass at the side of the road... I think they did that already with them didnt they?. they cant do off road, unless you buy special tyres and a winch.

I think in Europe, most general purpose, off road capable vehicles are refereed to as "jeeps." Over here, it's a little more specific to a particular make and model. There are many theories as to the origin of the name "jeep". The one I read about says it came from the designation of "GP" for a general purpose vehicle. It was usually first pronounced "Gee-Pee" but later evolved to jeep.

I think they did that already with them didnt they?. they cant do off road, unless you buy special tyres and a winch. I think in Europe, most general purpose, off road capable vehicles are refereed to as "jeeps." The usual term is off-roader, Landy, Chelsea Tractor, or nowadays, S-U-V, we didnt get the jeep, we had Landys, or landrovers, instead, which were based on the original design of the willys jeep. Where the term came from was the G-P general purpose, that we know, but the derivations between G-P and Jeep we dont fully know, as we dont or didnt have them, all we have is what we were "told" by the Yanks who bought them with them to their various camps around UK. When TLW says "and nobody really makes their cars to fly." take a look at Bowler. Bowler Motorsport in Derby produce a heavily modified Landrover based designs that are designed to fly jump land and carry on, [Bowler Wildcat] The things are great in the air, perfectly balanced for one, and very sturdy, they can and will do the Dakar rally, WRC type motorsports meant for high altitude over the jumps, loads of fun,m but expect you backside to ache for a week afterwards?.. The suspension on those things is developing. I have seen some developments that use magnetic resistance in the shock absorbers. They land and squat ... no bounceback. The idea is that once they land they should grip and accelerate. Its working!.... and will be coming out in road cars soon. This is the "Heavyweight" area of WRC rally type cars, upwards you get the 10 ton trucks of Dakar rally, but they do "Fly". 50 grand for the rally, around 110 grand for the Road version "comfort" version... 5 ltr supercharged over 500 brake horses. I know thats not much to the Americans, but its an awful lot to us when the usual Landy has a 3 ltr diesel?.. They tested on in a desert, 40ft drop onto its nose, "Nothing", no damage.

Some rear bumper work, a CB antenna and a 30 year old Sally Fields and your set. Is that a Fiero under the tarp? And is that the next project?

The bumper has been done since that photo. I have an old wedding dress, vintage 1976 6 pack of Coors, and some Dr Pepper bottles for my car show display. That plate is from the late 1980’s the one on the car now is an original 1977 plate.
I just need a Diablo sandwich.
