Last I'd heard, Grant had moved out of San Francisco to be with his girlfriend, which pretty much crosses him off the list unless the two of them are living closer to SF than I'd thought. Well according to Both Tory & Karri (both in words & photo's) via Facebook the whole of the Build Team are working together filming what they're calling for now at any rate "The Secret Show" for the Science Channel. As Grant doesn't have a official Facebook page & I don't subscribe to Twitter, I have no idea what he says he's up to. So unless he's said on Twitter that he's working on another project alone/without Tory & Kari, I have to assume the that Build Team are tighter again.

The whole crew were Ex. Industrial Light and Magic. [except Kari...] Thats George Lucas's crew, and, as we all know, its where the interest in Star-Wars for the whole damn crew came from.
Being that Star Wars is opening for a new run now with a few new films being made....
Who am I to suggest that maybe Jamie wants back in on the action there?.

Something to keep in mind here. Even if the science channel commissions a new mythbusters series filming is unlikely to start until next year. So while some aspects of pre production will be taking place a lot of decisions would be partly held off until later this year, probably six months or so before filming starts. This would include where the series would be filmed.
San Francisco would be the most logical place to film, since they have plenty of contacts with the local authorities and a knowledge of suitable test sites. However they might also decide to film elsewhere to visually differentiate the new and old shows. It isn't likely they'd pick L.A. as location filming would be more expensive, which would rule Grant out as a host unless he moves back to SF. He could however act as a producer, as we saw with Dan Tapster producers don't have to even be in the same country. Another option would be to have him act as the mythgiver rather than a full host. By which I mean he comes in to do the blueprint room segments. That would leave Kari and Tory to act as main hosts, which I think would be good if only for a woman being a lead host on a science show, with the new team as support. I wouldn't be too surprised however if they start with two new hosts with a more experienced mythbuster leading that team. Or maybe even two teams of the same set-up. There are lots of ways they could mix and match things within the old general structure to make it a little different.

Those are certainly better suggestions than just "get the old build team back together as hosts". I think that would feel like a discount version of the show instead of a new take on it. Getting them involved and possibly even, as you say, let Tory and Kari take on the roles of team leaders for a team each would be fine, but trying to make the old format work without Adam and Jamie would be a mistake. It'll never be the same show without them, so they might as well not try to make it the same show in the first place. They have to do something very different, but still within the confines of the general concept of the original to make it work and not seem like a cheap attempt at a sequel.

Much will depend I think on who they get as the show runner, and how much the network allows changes to the format. Clearly they are going to want to make changes, but no so many it becomes a different show. They will have seen how that worked out for countless attempts at duplicating mythbusters over the last decade. Another factor will be how much money they are willing to put into the series, as this will dictate how many hosts they can afford and how experienced they will be... ...Unless...I wonder if they might not consider making the Mythbusters host search a fixture if it proves popular enough. If so that would allow them to switch out the new hosts every now and again, that might help keep cast costs down and allow for slightly larger cast. I'd have plenty of ideas, but unless they ask me for some reason....

If your Bothan has a little influence, we could become a bigger part of the show than we've been to this point. Provided that we deliver something worthwhile, of course.

Of course, this is all presuming that they keep everything in San Francisco. California's cost of living is as infamous as its nebulous business & legal environments, and so that raises the question of whether or not it would be cheaper to move the show elsewhere past a certain point. I can actually see a B or even C team operating remotely in a state with a lower cost of living with a minimal budget and a skeleton crew in order to supplement the main lead(s), thereby increasing the amount of available footage without too drastically increasing the cost of it.

If that happens, it's just a matter of time before the show dies. MythBusters is about science and curiosity, not competition. As soon as it becomes more focused on competition than the actual testing of myths, it's no longer MythBusters. Just another in a long line of meaningless reality shows.

Right now, the only 'confirmed' action is that they are doing a reality type competition show to possibly find new hosts. Everything I've read leads me to believe that they don't have a new format in place yet, just laying the groundwork for possible hosts. Who's to say the reality competition won't flop? If that happens, do you really think they would continue on with a reboot of the show? I don't.
In order for there to be any chance of a MB 2.0, this reality challenge has to do well, and the competitors they bring on have to be likable and generate interest from groups like ours. To me, that means you give this a chance, find a 'host' you like and cheer them on, generate hype. Without it, MB is not likely to ever come back in any form. That's just my 2 cents.

I'd think that Science channel is serious about wanting to bring MB back, and most likely have a reasonable idea as to what they'd want from the show, who would be involved and where it would be filmed. I don't think they would be mentioning Mythbusters at all otherwise. That doesn't mean they will commission a new series, just that they are fairly well along in developing it.
If you think about it, it makes sense for them to attempt to cast "amateurs" for a new series. A lot of the people applying are likely to be fans of the original series, and therefore would bring the same kind of joy and delight to a new show that we saw in the old. That would give the series a similar feel, as they wouldn't be looking for experienced hosts just those with passion, which in turn would help duplicate the slightly unpolished feel of the original.
It would also make sense for them to do the casting as a reality show. It raises interest, or at least gets the news out there about a revamp, with the existing fans. While it might also bring in those watching the reality shows but who never watched mythbusters. There is no harm in them trying to do this, especially since it isn't going to affect the production of a new MB series. (The earliest we would see a new series is late 2017, and that assumes active production starts by the end of 2016).
If the reality series is a success great, they may consider having one every year to bring mythterms onto the show for a season. If it isn't a great success its no big deal.

Speaking of which I am reminded of what happened to Scrapheap Challenge when Channel 4 changed the original format to another one and it failed completely to hatch the previous shows in tone. This lead the viewership to nose dive.
