The blue paint thing?... and you dont know of any other country that "decorates" its warriors?...
Blue body paint goes back a long way to the Picts.
Its why the Scottish flag is also blue.
It was a way of identifying your own long before there was any form of uniform for soldiers.
As for the thing with that Australian actor trying to depict William Wallace ... "Dont believe everything you see on the internet" is a phrase that reads exactly the same backwards.
I hope no one was silly enough to check that?..
By the time of William Wallace, yes they had a lot of blue in their "Uniforms", but whole body paint had been discontinued?..
Blue is still the national colour of Scotland.
And it was only ever used as body art when they went to war...
As the Scots do NOT go to war every day, and havnt for centuries, its not an average day to see one painted Blue?..
The Kilt, the Greater kilt was not a skirt, but a whole body cloak that could be used as a coat, and hood, blanket, warmth, and be adjusted as the weather changed.
It was also often worn with breaches underneath...
"Short" was never the great kilt idea.... but inbuilt ventilation should the weather get above freezing was an added bonus?..
As for the bag-of-pipes, it is universally hated.
Even the Scots hate the waily-waily ..
Just as much as the real English hate the portrayal of us as "posh twit" that is anything like Hugh-Huge-a-hole-Grant... most of us do NOT, despite over-coverage in films, stop at 5pm for tea and scones, and talk like we have had a elocution lesson inserted "until it hurts"...
Same with the Scots.
If you see a Scots person, if that same person is spotted in jeans and t-shirt,or any other "western world" type average day to day attire, ISNT ginger, and the only time you are sure is when the speak, then you have an average Scots person.
Even when they are ginger, you cant be sure until you know.
They are just the same as anyone else from the UK with a strong accent in that you cant tell where they are from until they speak.
Unless they have a huge Blue banner with a white cross on it that is the Scots flag about their person.
And even then, you cant be sure they aint just an American who has travelled there to "Discover their heritage".
Blue Body paint, Bag-o-pipes, and the short kilt are reserved mostly for American tourists....?.
And they do sell a lot of it you know.
As for the hallucinogenic plants that turn your tongue blue?.. there is that one, that one, or that one...
And no, we aint letting on which one that one is.
