Intelligent guesswork, there is a Mrs-C64 who re-purposed the space?.. Nope. Just a 60 inch vinyl cutting plotter, a PS2 sitting on top of a a Sony Trinitron studio monitor and a way too complicated to really use espresso machine. I never drink coffee. it keeps me awake when I should be working.

In truth, coffee doesnt give you any "High" at all, it just causes a system depression when you dont have any in the system, and the next "hit" just brings you back up to what normal people are. Kind of like a coffee hangover?.. Except I ask, what is it then with the Java bean coffee?.. the one that has 100% HELLO! taste and kicks like a mule?.. that surely has some kind of effect.

I've likened it in the past to switching the fuel valve on your motorcycle over to reserve. it is actually, more like shorting the fuel sensor in your car. the gauge tells you that you have a full tank, regardless of how much fuel you actually have; and it is only when the car begins misfiring that you find out it was an illusion. since machines are designed to operate without rest, it is hard to put it in machine terms, but I've also likened it to a car with an undersized radiator. the longer you run it, the hotter it gets, and periodically you have to stop and let it cool down. caffeine is like splashing cold water on the temperature sensor. it makes the reading look better, but the engine is still hot, and if you keep it up too long, the radiator will still boil over.

Kind of like a coffee hangover?.. I believe your are correct. I drink way too much coffee. In the morning, my brain is in a fog until I get my first cup and if I don't have any by noon, I have a severe headache. A number of years ago, I was on a camping trip and no coffee was available. After three days without it, I would wake up in the morning with a clear mind and no more headaches. Unfortunately, after I got back home, I went back to drinking my coffee. A drug addition is hard to beat even after you're been through withdrawal.

Caffeine is a strange drug, in that it does not affect the human body in any positive way at all, it does, as you say, "Short out" the mechanism that makes you tired, so yeah, when you wake up a little hungover from not enough sleep, it has that "WAKEY WAKEY" effect, but that isnt a positive, because you get the drop when you stop, and that is a hell of a drop. And as you also say its addictive. But the bugger has us beat, its in the bloody tea as well....

Not many kids and not gonna give my wife any ideas...... probably just as well, those chairs don't seem to be set up well for too much vigorous swinging. but when I was young the school next door had a hexagon shaped swing set, and I think we could, with effort, get close enough to make contact with another kid.
