So, yeah, I, umm, uhh...then I said, you know... "You know what I'm talking about?" My response: Obviously not, otherwise I wouldn't have asked... Oh MAN I hate those "you know what I'm talking about?" or "you know what I'm saying?" types! Mostly because they often say it after a sentence that's so stupifyingly simple that if someone didn't know what they were talking about, it's probably because they wear a leather helmet, a bib, some adult diapers and need 24 hour surveillance by a trained professional! It's always something like: "Dude. I like the red jellybeans best. You know what I mean?" Yes, I think I can just about manage to decode that rather complex utterance without having to consult a dictionary and pulling an all-nighter, although your philosophical insight is impressive!

There are so many inappropriate places I could go with a response... But, short/PG-rated answer is: My mother-in-law lives with us, what do you think?! You have my sympathies. You poor {person of questionable parentage}! You have mine too.

No, we're calling you a TUM.

No, we're calling you a TUM. I do occassionally consider referring to myself as the TUMinator.

One more for the room: The occasional environmentalist
You know the type. The guy who burns his trash in the back yard, drives the biggest gas guzzler you can find and throws hamburger wrappers out of the window when he goes for his 4th unnecessary drive of the day and then gets all high and mighty, talking about "Think of our kids' future" when you leave a light on in a room with no occupants or take a long shower.

I want to throw ALL "Environmentalists" into a special room....
"USE LESS PETROL/GAS/COAL POWER"... Like how?...
Scuse me, but until you can provide green energy, I am pretty much tied to whatever gas and electrickery they send through the lines here?...
I support Wind farms, and no, I wouldnt mind one in my own back yard, its just I cant get planning permission, 'cos all the (Deleted accurate sting of expletives) afore mentioned tree huggers say they are an eyesore..... Hang the lot of 'em, but NOT in here, they will just complain about the waste of internet space......

A Note to Smug "Electric" car owners.
FACT...... If I scrap my vehicle right now, the cost to the environment of that scrapping process is far more than the trade off cost in electrickery production over burning fossil fuel for the projected mileage for the life of the batteries of your vehicle.... And that is just the battery life.
If you go look at the environmental cost of extracting the rare metals in your batteries, you will (ch-1-t) yourself....
Now lets look at the rest of the vehicles...
This has been projected for the life of a 10 year old vehicle "In good condition" The environmental cost of scrapping my vehicle and going for a electric is so much that I would have to get at LEAST 20 years use out of the electric..... The batteries in today's technology will last about 7 to 8 years on average mileage... So your putting an extra two sets of batteries into the equation.... As they do not know if old batteries can be refurbished, that cost is unknown.
Oh, and by the way, you have a dog in your car.... Looking at the environmental cost of running feeding owning a dog, something like a Labrador would allow me to run TWO toyota land-cruisers in trade off.
Go give your head a wobble.
You and your dog get a special place in here.

I changed out my closet light with a CFL bulb" Good for you. you'll save enough energy to offset the cost of the special trip you made to the store to buy it in about 100 years. "I have an electric car. it doesn't produce any pollution" well, except for the coal burning power plant your electricity comes from. "I recycle my plastic water bottles." good for you. I've been using the same water jug for the last 15 years.

Hopefully they'll never crack and poison the animals in the area with the toxic chemicals contained in the panels. Oh yeah, there's also the coal needed to run the plant that manufactures them.

There is a lot that people can do to increase their living efficiency and use renewable resources more effectively. unfortunately, it involves rational thought; so it rarely happens. there is also the rule of unintended consequences. some years back, we had "super good cents" construction which involved sealing up the house like a tupperware bowl - which meant that the builders then had to install forced ventilation fans to prevent all sorts of problems - and a lot of houses of that era had the walls rot from the inside because the construction methods trapped moisture in the walls.

Over here they exhort us to install water meters to incentivise us to save water, wash recyclables such as bottles, jars and cans to save energy at the recycling plants.
Then they ban us from using hose-pipes in the Summer because of water shortages.
I suspect that this 'Green Revolution' is just another scam to empty Joe Public's pockets.

By tradition they are usually green in colour, this is meant to camouflage them against the grass so you lose them & are forced to buy another one. This however proves to be a largely unsuccessful measure as no one has a lawn that is play dough green.

I was thinking "hose pipe" must refer to an attachment for the hose. here, manufacturers have compensated for not making them blend in with the grass by making the fittings out of a bimetal creation that warps to prevent proper attachment.

Here as soon as the water pressure changes be it even the slightest little bit, they burst off from their connection to the water source.
