so because three of Mrs TLW's prescriptions had a refill date of tomorrow, her doctor didn't bother giving approval for them to be refilled, early, and we had the expectation of running out while we were here; as well as one we couldn't bring because it has to be refrigerated - so we went down to the doctor here and in about a half hour, we had the pharmacy setting up for our hosts to pick up her prescriptions tomorrow, at a grand total of 80 pounds. - since as tourists we aren't eligible for NHS. Sorry you were charged so much. i was amused that they had a sign in the waiting room that said "if you have waited more than 45 minutes, talk to the receptionist" in a font that indicated they felt making people wait so long was unacceptable.

in entertainment news, Disney has said that Kevin Feige (associated with the MCU) will be getting his fingers into the Star Wars universe.
whether it is good or bad remains to be seen, but I felt entertainment news doesn't really qualify as world news, and this was the closest to on topic in the recent threads.

Someone new needs to get into the Star Wars universe. Hopefully it will be for the good. Hard to imagine it getting any worse.

I guess there is a star wars thread I could have put this into - but maybe we should consider a general entertainment news thread.

This story is both good, and not so good.

could be worse. the last time my parents got a new phone number, it had belonged to a taxi company, before. imagine having someone call you at (bars close at 0200 in the morning) for a ride.

After my son moved into his house, he had a landline phone installed and was given a number that previously had belong to someone who didn’t believe in paying their bills. After a constant barrage of calls from collection agencies who wouldn’t take “there’s no one here by that name“ for an answer, he finally had to have the number changed.

presumably people remember Lokifan telling us about experiencing glasses that compensate for color blindness. there was a feelgood story yesterday about a school kid who experienced them at a science show. his parents started a crowdfunding effort to get somebody else a pair. by my math, including a matching donation* from the manufacturer, they have raised enough money to get nearly 200 somebodies a pair. www.cbsnews.com/news/minnesota-boy-helps-colorblind-see-colors/*(my understanding of the pits and pieces I saw while finding the story online is that part of every full price purchase goes to matching donations for nonprofit fundraisers)

Hasbro has given third-party company Jazwares the license to produce Micro Machines toys, and their first wave of product was just unveiled at this weekend's Toy Fair New York.
They aren't cheap, but perhaps now we can do the whole "Home Alone" bit about people tripping on them as an effective trap.

Those damn ping pong balls are downright dangerous and should be banned. Or at least plastered with a bunch of warning stickers. They just lay in wait under an end table or sofa and then jump out and trip some unsuspecting passer-by.

I'm always tripping over mine.
