Heroes come in all sizes. "When a fire broke out in an Orange County mobile home Tuesday morning, two neighborhood boys rushed in to save the babies they knew lived inside. Isiah Francis, 10, and Jeremiah Grimes, 11, were playing in Isiah’s home when they said they smelled something, saw smoke and noticed the children’s stepfather trying to put out a blaze. Realizing that the babies were still inside the home, the boys stepped up to help." Finally some news out of Florida that doesn't belong in the Stupid or Weird category. It is great to,read some happy news. Well done those two boys.

I changed the water pump on Mrs TLW's pickup without losing any skin or swearing more than twice. and both of those times were when I dropped something.

Speaking of cars, I took mine to a new mechanic today. One recommended by a good friend. I've had a weird metallic rattling sound from the right side of the car for a while and we're taking a trip in a couple of weeks, so I decided it was probably best to get it checked out before we left. Turned out to be a stabilizer. Nothing major. The price was already reasonable, but as I opened my wallet to get my credit card, the mechanic looked at my wallet and went, "Are you a war vet?" (I have a so-called "Veteran's Card" that I got after my trips to Iraq.) I told him I was and he then told me, "Well, then you get a 15% discount on both the parts and the work time as a thank you for your service." And here I thought that card was just a meaningless political stunt. Seems some people have taken it upon themselves to make it worth something

Especially when its not expected or asked for.

www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2016-07-15/famous-samurai-saito-hajime-true-face-revealed-at-last/.104353 (some articles on the site NSFW) Verified photos have surfaced of famed Japanese swordsman Hajime Saito, one of the most famous and controversial figures of the 1800s. The photos were in possession of the descendants of his second son, Tsuyoshi. Before this, the only known photo was a group photo taken at Tsuyoshi's wedding, and although it was known he was part of the group he wasn't easy to make out. These two photos were taken in 1897, when he was 53.

I'm not someone who gets all choked up or such, but reading through this really touched me. I read it and simply had to share, hoping it brings a little joy, or pride, or respect for fathers... anything but the constant hate we hear about in the daily news.

I read it and simply had to share, hoping it brings a little joy, or pride, or respect for fathers... anything but the constant hate we hear about in the daily news. the pollen count must be unusually high, today. one thing I've noticed in my life, is that a significant number of people with congenital conditions that make their lives take more effort than the "normal" person tend to be nicer people than those around them. I sometimes wonder whether that is a coping mechanism, or a defense mechanism, or just a natural result of the fact that their success is often built on cooperation with those around them. I'm glad another person found happiness, and wish them well.

From experience...
Maybe its because those with extra problems realise how lucky they are to even be able to be nice to anyone in the first place, maybe its because they are generally so pleased with all the help they get from other people that they just give thanks to everyone for being nice to them, or maybe its because they are just happier to be alive in the first place.
"Any morning you can get to see a sunrise..."
And my own personal opinion is that tell me one sight in the world that doesnt look better with a sunrise across it, because I have yet to see it.

Saw that on the news yesterday, including where they interviewed the bride. As TLW would say, the pollen count must have been really high yesterday.

Attachment Deletedthe casino gave us a grant to buy new response jumpsuits. they asked us to take a picture of us getting the display check. I'll try to remember to pull it off the news when the final picture is published.
