www.statehealthfacts.org/compare.jspThe Kaiser Family Foundation maintains a website which goes state by state throughout the US looking at health-related statistics, such as birth rate, incidence rate of cancer, vaccination rates, incidence rate of diabetes, incidence rate of heart disease, and assorted fatality rates. Where possible, the statistics are broken down not only by state but also by race and gender. I was first pointed to the site around 2003, and while the information on the site is generally a few years old it's still pretty reliable and updated as often as the KFF gets new information.
