The only thing that bothered me about Microsoft discontinuing XP support is the way it was turned into a marketing tool to try to convince XP users that if they didn't update to a new OS, their computing world was going to come crashing down. Microsoft even put a notice in the last XP update that warns you of the dangers of continuing to be so foolish as to keep using XP. And Microsoft wasn't the only one to blame for this "sky is falling" hype. Most of your so called computer "experts" also jumped on the bandwagon crying the dangers of continuing to use XP.
You have it in a nutshell.
Hype Quote...[Continued use of XP will damage the lives of you and the people around you... asa in, it will be hacked, you will be used as a host for viruses, so you will be responsible for the crash of the internet, unless you immediately upgrade?...]
BULL---t.
This is a subject I could deliver a half-hour lecture on with relevant information that is factual and important....
But I wont, you are safe, I know it would bore the pants off most of you, because you allready know.
But, a couple of points...
Win8, built for touch screens.
We dont all have touch screens?...
Didnt you learn that with Vista with the public back-lash of having to Hardware upgrade before Vista would install?...
No "Start" button....
Again, why?...
You spent all these years teaching us that there is a logical place to "Start" when you want to find something, and then you go and remove it?....
We note you changed your mind on that.
Wonder why.................?.
Win 8 is for Tablets.
It is designed to encompass all forms of....[blah blah blah....]
No it isnt.
You have spent a lot of time making it Tablet suitable without doing anything for Desktops.
You spent ages redesigning the XBox interface to make it "Similar".
Different tools for different jobs.
We agree all machines should be able to "talk" to each other....
But you cant easily file share an XBox file with a Desktop.
Desktop uses Mouse, some have touch screens, not all, so making the same interface for all machines is foolish.
So I need to upgrade XP...
To what?...
Vista didnt work.
At all.
Win 7 was suitable, but, not "Worth" the upgrade.
Win 8 is just not suitable.
Ok, so I have a [nearly] 20 yr old car, Toyota Avensis, what you are doing here is now akin to making me want to change my car...
Its out of warranty., so what?...
Its still working quite well thankyou.
It still passes its one a year safety check....(MOT) with Flying Colours by the way?...
It does exactly what I want.
What you are offering me is a sleek new sporty car designed for "The younger generation"...
Thats not really a family car 5 seater with space in the back for extra luggage and a Dog is it?...
So why should I change?...
My car passed a NCap safety check when built with the best score it could, it doesnt endanger the other road users, just why should I change?...
And if I do, can you stop me using a different operating system?...
I may jump ship and use Linux.
Oh, I already am......
