If you have a network enabled TV/Blu Ray/game console, you might be able to watch Amazon Instant Video on your TV (along with Netflix & YouTube). Otherwise, if your TV has an HDMI slot, you could use an Amazon Fire Stick to watch Amazon content. So, theoretically, you could cut ties with your cable/satellite company... Just signed up for Amazon Prime, does anyone know the name of the show Clarkson is hosting? It is unnamed as of now, but a couple of names have been trademarked. "However, the trademark name 'Gear Knobs' has been registered by Clarkson's law firm Olswang via a company called NewinCCO 1361. Olswang has also trademarked 'Speedbird', a name which might well feature on the show." From: www.digitalspy.com/tv/top-gear/feature/a661484/top-gear-amazon-prime-jeremy-clarkson-richard-hammond-and-james-may-new-show-name-start-date/Looks like the show will be on next fall, whatever they decide to call it.

Did I get the wrong impression of the one advertisement I saw for this change for Top Gear? I got the impression that LeBlanc was somehow to host airing old footage of the best Top Gear races. I recall hearing something about "best races" on the advertisement, thus the assumption said reference was to old footage. Could be wrong though, it's happened before Yes I think you did, if you read the text of the article it mentions that Matt LeBlanc had presented a download only series of 'Top Gear:The Races' and the success of that was part of what persuaded the BBC that signing him as a Copresenter on the full series would be a good idea.

I think that may have something to do with the legality of how much urine they can throw at the BBC (Taking the pi--) and use a name NOT "top gear" or "Fifth gear" but something that mimics that.

I like "Top Knob" it has a nice ring to it. "Sixth Gear" would be a nice 'one upper'

Okay, well I can see where I would have misunderstood given that I was paying more attention to an online political "debate" than I was the television.

Its the way he cheats, obviously and with great prowess, that makes fun of those others who dont do it as well as he does, that makes it worth him doing it in the first place... Who else would slow down someone on a better bike than they have by presenting them with a model sail ship to strap to the luggage carrier?...(Vietnam special I think?...) Priceless. "Oops it got damaged" Yeah, so what, you can see the scripted bits on that, doesnt stop it being funny?.. Also, as Clarson has harangued the "leather clad joy boys" of motorcbikists for such a long time, in fun, its only right that he was forced to do hundreds of miles on a Bike. A Rather useless one at that. The truth that he had never rode one before so had to learn on the way, well, it shows he isnt all gas but was willing to give it a try?. He is a buffoon, we all know that, but in his own special way, he is OUR buffoon, he does the things we may be scared to do ourselves, and that what makes him special. He also had a pop at Truckists, so, of course, he had to learn how to drive Heavy Trucks. And although he had a decent car, doing a 25hr stint driving one in a race round the Scandinavian parts, I dont envy him in any way for driving that car so far and for so long. Nor do I envy him jumping of snow banks proving you CAN drive a vehicle to the North Pole.... I wonder exactly how much damage that did to his back?. I would relish the chance to do that kind of trip, however, at a much slower pace.... and at a much lower altitude than some of the jumps he did..... [ouch!]

[ouch!] oh, I would enjoy getting paid what he got paid to present a show like he presented, all right. I don't think I could match his buffoonery, though. the degree of skill which which he was a buffoon kind of reveals he did it mostly on purpose.

May is highly intelligent in his own right, just acts the part really really well.... Not forgetting "Captain slow" was the fastest man in a standard production car until the man from Bugatti rather more out of shame on them retook the record.... Thats for sure, I long suspected that May was anything but "Captain Slow", His run in the Veyron and the 'nod' May recieved from Jackie Stewart "wouldn't be surprised if you are a better driver than either of the other two (paraphrased)" certainly reinforced my belief. You are also correct when you state that any new hosts should NOT try to emmulate the old trio. Clarkson, Hammond, and May had a chemistry that will not be matched, any new hosts should know going in, if they can't create their own chemistry, the show will fail.

I thought the "captain slow" referred more to the fact he refuses to run. - he also portrays a much more laid back character than the other two. when he takes a car for a run he focuses more on how much fun he is having than on how hard he can push the car.

It was more his "Old man" appearance and deliberate way of driving, and "Directionally challenged" that on a roundabout with only one exit he could take the wrong turn, he was never anywhere in a hurry, unless "on track", and on the days where they went convoy, he was always the slowest driver. The art of driving fast is to know when NOT to drive fast?.. I can identify with that. As in, I may be one of the only HGV drivers I know locally who has raced on track on both Bike and Car circuits, but that doesnt make me a race driver on the roads every day, I drive deliberately and carefully?.. I think James was "over" the boy racer period that Jeremy and Richard had yet to loose...?.. James could drive fast when he wanted to, its just, most days, he didnt want to drive that fast.
