I've been having issues logging in to the board here.
When I go to log in via Chrome, I have a 50% chance of the log-in page puking up this error message:
This webpage is not available
ERR_SPDY_PROTOCOL_ERROR
I'm not having this issue on Firefox; I'm actually using it to type this message right now.
Cache issue? Cookies? Issue with the server itself?
Thanks.

Chrome.... "Well THERE'S Your problem"..... Use firefox. You are not on your own, Chrome help forum is "full of it", and it looks like its down to SPDY-Protocol which is "new", and not all that chrome friendly. "New" since 2011... and aint fixed yet. From the following site, I find this... productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/hKqBBn6_phM I have no idea if that will or wont work as I dont have chrome?.... From what I can find. There are several fixes, Cache cookies and Junk files being the first....biggest junk file being the one marked "Chrome", and everything in it, uninstall the thing. But you want to use chrome, so just the cache and cookies then... Reset the browser to default and try again... thats the have you tried turning it off and back on again version of Chrome, in the address bar, see below link. Flush. open cmd window, type ipconfig /flushdns in Command Prompt, and enter, followed by ipconfig /renew , and if that still isnt working, open chrome, and in the adress bar, chrome://net-internals/#events&q=type:SPDY_SESSION is:active in the address bar and press Enter. Right click on the drop down menu at the top-right of windows and select Flush Sockets. That all from here... www.techfor.us/2015/10/err_spdy_protocol_error/Its a glitch in chrome they aint bothered to fix yet. See what you get and come back if it aint working?... and tell us what did work for you....

So reading that, from Wiki, it looks like it works soo well, they are discontinuing it?... In above post there are mentions of how to disable SPDY referrals, my bet is doing that and not bothering with this "junk" code. I am presuming this is similar to putting about:config into firefox, in that you open a page that allows you to tinker under the hood?... I would suggest you tinker in a way that sets all of the spdy protocols to "Dont work", as in false false true false in the above four options, and see what happens.... the page of wiki being en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPDY is well worth a visit for the more advanced tinkerers. It at lest tells you where to start looking.

Bleep.
It's doing it again.
Flush didn't work, and the string where I can disable SPDY isn't coming up.
Nuts.

I can use incognito mode as a work-around to get on here, but I have to deal with the ads on the page since Adblock isn't compatible.

I found a work-around that allows me to flush sockets. Hopefully this will fix things.

Bleep. It's doing it again. Flush didn't work, and the string where I can disable SPDY isn't coming up. Nuts. Again, I dont know Chrome, however... Taking what I know from Firefox and adapting it may take some investigation, so, you could try the following... "Find" function, there must be one in chrome that can find the SPDY. Cant get that?... if there is no such string, it may be missing. Can you "Create"?.. [obviously at this point do a backup if you have any worries...] I know this may be a bit daunting, but, from experience, you wont break anything if you try, and try to create a new string and assign it a boolean value of False, which may involve setting the string value as boolean, the changing it to false. By the way, setting a false value will not affect the result, nor will it harm the existing code, as it will only affect it in a way that would be beneficial to you. Once it is there, you can always alter or delete it.

Bit of an update.
What I have to do is clear my most recent log-in attempt from my browser history, then flush the sockets a few times.
It's a bit of a brute force tactic, but it works more often than not.

As in a forced clear shutdown where all session cookies are cleared at the end of a session, and no trackback cookies 3rd party are allowed etc....

They call it "Incognito" instead. No one knows where you've been, except you... and Google.

Thing is, Adblock doesn't entirely work in this mode, meaning that some ads do get through.

Anyone else having log-in problems? Every time I log into the site from my desktop, I'm asked to prove that I'm not a robot. After I go through the picture picking routine, the site then comes up but isn't formatted properly. I thought it may be a Firefox problem so I tried IE. Same problem. It seems to work OK every time if I log in from my iPhone. I have the same problem logging in from my wife's desktop so if it's local, it has to be something to do with my IP address.

I have an alternative service provider I can assign to the network, but that will take some manipulation of the router/firewall settings. I'll have to give that a try and see what happens.

Do you sign out?. If you just (Like I do) close the window and walk away or hibernate still signed in, maybe thats your problem here?... And I know its me being lazy, but as my computer is protected from intrusion...........

I had some trouble logging in about a week ago, but that just turned out to be an issue with a CloudFlare server in Copenhagen. Logged in through kproxy.com without issue. Might want to try that to see if it's your IP.

Because we have VPN's for accessing business data from a number of outside locations, I have a fairly elaborate router/firewall computer that interfaces between my LAN and the outside world. There seems to be something going on with that system that is messing things up. If I connect my computer directly to the ISP's modem, without going through our router/firewall, I don't seem to have the problem. The systems been working OK for about 6 years now, so I'm not sure what's changed.
