Or is it? I thought the fishtank shooting was cool and interesting. The driving one, I thought it was okay but I think they should have had a race car driver who has driven on dirt to try it. Two explosions that would save a man in between was interesting and it was funny when the explosion didn't happen and Jamie looked perplexed, I don't know but it was funny how he looked at Adam. Bullet in the lighter, so it took them this long to do a revisit, I bet people are saying they messed up but it would make sense if it was a ricochet.

For the fish tank, each test involved the team using an open-air tank.
Thus, no filter.
Would a filter be bullet-proof?
Someone could test a filter on its own outside of the tank, then inside of a tank to see if it would prevent the back wall from shattering (and thus still posing a chance of injury via shrapnel).

on the double bombs, I really wish they had given us the pressures for the other transducers. I am curious if they were all directly additive, which would have made them ALL 100 PSI for the double bomb.

The driving one, I thought it was okay but I think they should have had a race car driver who has driven on dirt to try it. I was thinking something along the same lines as I was watching it. It didn't make any sense to me that they would compare Adam's time against Jamie's, as the two could have radically different driving skills without realizing it. It would have made more sense to have both do two regular runs and two drift runs to see if they could better their own times. Offset, of course. Two regular runs would have familiarized them with the track, so the drift runs might have been easier for them afterwards, skewing the results. It would have to be one regular run, then one drift run, then regular again, then drift again. However, all those thoughts were put to shame when they showed the superimposed shots of Adam and Jamie taking different turns, showing that regular driving on the broad bends is quicker than drifting, while drifting on the narrow bends is quicker than regular driving. And it makes perfect sense why it is that way, so that sealed it for me and I ended up satisfied with the result. None of the shooting myths really surprised me, but at least as far as gun-related myths go, I think the fish tank footage was some of the most beautiful in the entire history of the show. Seeing those projectiles making their way through that blue water, slowing down dramatically from the impact was just a treat to watch. There was one frame in particular when they were testing the deer slug where I actually caught myself thinking, "Hmm... That one frame would look incredible as a wall decoration if you printed it out on a poster and framed it." The result of the double explosion was no real surprise either, but again, the high speed shots looked incredible and I was really impressed they didn't have to blow up the rig several times to get it right. Just goes to show that experience counts

Drift versus slow in fast out?... we asked that one back many years ago didnt we?.. And the common consensus back then was depends on the road, the car, the driver, too many things to be ultimately testable....

And if we're a little crude in our comparisons, they did ultimately reach the same conclusion we did. Is drifting always faster? No. But it can be under certain circumstances. It depends on the road, the car and especially the driver.

The Zippo retest: No surprises. It was nice that they were able to get a replication of the result in the story using the ricochet off the block.
Bullet proof fish tank?: One thing I noticed was that they kept the top of the fish tank open. Most fish tank are kept with hoods (+lights/filters/etc) on top. This should have created resistance to the amount of water that escaped through the top.
Off road drift vs not: Overall, as the rest of you have pointed out, there are way too many variables to ever have one final conclusive decision as to which is better.
Overlapping explosions: From the start, I didn't think there was much merit to the idea. Shockwaves don't just evaporate. It was a great test to watch though.

overlapping explosions: kinda like standing between two oncoming vehicles hurting less than standing in front of one.

overlapping explosions: kinda like standing between two oncoming vehicles hurting less than standing in front of one. That probably does hurt less. With one vehicle, there's a chance that you'll be flung away and survive with very serious injuries. With two, you're more likely to be dead, which I've heard hurts less

Depends on whether you're refering to reincarnation or eternal hellfire Of course, being reincarnated as the illegitimate child of Justin Beiber and Miley Cyrus would be just as painful as eternal hellfire, so that would be lose-lose...

Parish that thought! Those two should not be allowed to procreate apart, let alone together. The kid would be dehydrated and have a black eye because he'll keep missing his mouth with the sippy cup.

They should have "supersized" the drifting part.
