I was thinking something along the lines of making Martin and Jon sort of the main hosts or team leads and then allocating the other three to them for each myth as needed, but then I remembered having watched a Reddit AMA with Grant a while back where he made it clear why that's a bad idea. Someone asked him why the build team almost never did tests with Adam and Jamie anymore (this was while the show was still running) and he explained that the logistics of making that happen were a nightmare, because at any given time, each team would be working on 2-3 myths each. This was done in order to have buffers. When a myth hit a snag of some sort - additional research needed/materials on back order/location not available and so on - they could work on one of the other myths, instead of just wasting valuable production time waiting around. However clever that was, it also meant that if the teams were to work together on one large myth, they'd all have to focus solely on that one project and drop all the others for a while, meaning that for 8-10 days, they would only be shooting material for one story where they'd normally be shooting material for 4-6. Allocating team members as needed for each myth on the new show would probably result in a similar problem, making set teams the best option. true. that would seriously complicate scheduling. Keep in mind that on the original show the build team worked in a different building to A&J, and had their own filming crew. We don't know where they intend to film, how many hosts there will be or how the show would be organised. It is reasonable to assume that if they do have two teams they will probably be working out of a building large enough to handle both teams, and a single in house production team for both. (The original series didn't plan on having two groups, it was forced on them by necessary). This would make it easier for two groups to work together or switch hosts around.

If they end up with two teams, placing them in one building does sound logical, but do you really think they'll just have one production crew to film two different teams doing different things? Is that how it works at the moment with The Search? Or... Worked, I suppose... I guess they're already done filming it and on to the next thing...

Switching groupings of hosts could add a level of fun to the show that wasn't possible with the original show. I like the idea of having "2" teams of people... that said, why would both teams come from this 'season' of Search? If they are getting a good response to the show, why not have another next year for a 2nd team? Just because they are making a new show, doesn't mean that they will find all of their hosts from 1 season of searching....

Hadn't thought of that, but if they don't think they have more than two people who are right for the job at the end of this search, that's actually a pretty good idea. They might even want to wait a full season before starting the next search, just to see if the new show does well enough to warrant a second team.

The original series had a main production team headed by Dan Tapster, who dealt with the show overall, then a second in house production team who dealt with day to day issues such as getting permits for filming. Then there was the actual filming crew.
Because the build team were based in a different building, due to M5 simply not being large enough for both teams to film easily, each ended up with two in house production teams.
As I said before, I don't know where the new series will be filmed beyond 'Not at M5'. So they are presumably looking or have looked at a suitable building based on the lessons and problems encountered in the original series. One of the lessons they *probably* took away was the need to have room to expand. They did not take this into account when the original series was made, as the build team was only added in the second season when it became clear that Adam and Jamie could not continue to produce episodes at the rate required without help. I'd be utterly astonished if they didn't keep this in mind second time around, as even if they start with two hosts chances are they'd probably end up having to bring in more hosts and a second team if they get a second season. So it is likely they will have or be looking for a a single location with enough room to handle two groups at once. This in turn would mean that they would need only a single in house production team, rather than two, which makes things cheaper and more efficient. Both teams would still need their own film crews, but as I recall even on the original series that was around half a dozen people for both teams. Besides which most TV series have two film crews anyway, a first and second filming unit.

Just to toss this one out then -
The odds of a few trusted knuckleheads like us being given the opportunity to bust small-scale myths of our own choosing as episode filler? 0%, or close enough to it?
