Once upon a time, YouTube would let people download select videos off of their website.
Earlier this evening, my mom asked me a question on behalf of one of her friends, who is occasionally called on to teach Sunday school.
There's a YouTube video that she saw a little bit back, and she thinks that the video would be useful as something to show her students. However, while the church building we go to has wi-fi, the content restrictions are set so high that YouTube in and of itself is almost completely blocked. Basically, if you have a smartphone or tablet you can access the denominational website and a few related websites no matter where you are in the building, but that's about it; I'm guessing that the restrictions are as much about "people not being distracted by devices" as they are about content issues.
Is there any legal way to download videos off of YouTube anymore? Or should I simply contact the person who put the video up and ask for a copy of the file?
Thanks.

I've seen people ask for permission in the comments section. If they say ok just use something like this. www.clipconverter.cc/

YouTube host Suit Yourself uses a Chrome add-on called "Tampermonkey", which allows him to add scripts to pages; he found a script that lets him download YouTube videos, and so punched it in. That's how he gets the original videos he does responses to so that he can edit them into his own bits.
Anyone ever hear of this add-on?

There must be a way to do so with permission, as there are plenty of "collections" where someone has taken a lot of one incident bad driving clips to make a 1hr "special" kind of thing. I suggest getting permission first, as always, but, I get a whole page of results on searching.. duckduckgo.com/?q=download+youtube+videos&bext=wfa&atb=v48-5a_&ia=videosAnd Unlike Goggle, that page dont track your search.
