because to the modern juvenile, there is no difference between a myth and a movie trope. Well, as i said, I think this is interesting enough as it is, but yeah. They kind of need to make it interesting to a wider audience, so going with a popular movie as the reason might do that for them. That said, I don't know that this is a "trope" as such. It's pretty specific to this Batman movie, as far as I know. I should have mentioned it at the time but the scene in question is lifted from comic book "Batman: Year One", and was copied for the movie. It's about Bruce Wayne when he first dons the cape and he is still using pretty primitive items compared to later "Bat-gadgets" perhaps there are more testable items in that, I will have to see if I can find it out from storage and read it again.
