On to the direction of the new show. We here LOVE change. Its the fact that the show changes every week to suit the topic being investigated that keeps it fresh...
Therefore, just because two of our favourite people ever on earth just retired, good luck to them, and enjoy the garden leave, this doesnt mean we will harbour a grudge against the new presenters who replaced them?.
We are more than happy to see the show return, we WELCOME the new presenters, and if Jonathan Lung and Brian Louden are reading this, you are more than welcome as presenters, and you already skipped the title of n00b in the search thing, so your now creating history as the next generation.
If any feedback can be gained by the Bothan from this thread, let it be, welcome, good luck, and more please. Mush MUCH more. Its doing just fine... keep going. Any re-tests or re-do's that we ask are just because maybe we see things that are worth investigating, they are not all because we think you dun wrong, its just we dont think you went far enough?.

Question, the Voice-over dialogue of the unseen narrator presenter, is it going to be the same person in USA as we had on the UK released versions?. I know they used to use different voice narrator presenters different sides of the pond, and that has been common for many Disco shows, maybe its because we prefer a British accent [-Scots?..] that some of the harsh American accented voice artists?. Just asking, because, I dont actually know. The 'American' narrator is Robert Lee, who has done the narration for Mythbusters since the pilot episodes. I say 'American' because his narration is actually used in every country outside Europe, even those that have to add subtitles. He's a nice guy who agreed to do an interview with me when we started the board. I don't know if Robin Sachs will be doing the UK narration, although given the short amount of time between the US and UK airdates I have a suspicion he might not be. Fyi; It has been mentioned in interviews that both Brian and Jon were HUGE Mythbusters fans and still are. Not only that be they both have such good knowledge of the show that during planning they've been able to recall if a proposed myth has been done before, and give the episode.

So you are saying we are a bunch of "Geniuses"?.. in our own right?... You're one of those people who hears what they want to hear, aren't you...? No, I did not say we were geniuses (although it wouldn't surprise me if one or two members fit the official dictionary definition of the word). I just said we're well furnished in the brain department around here.

I can confirm the narrator for Mythbusters here is Robin Banks the same narrator as before, he's Irish btw.
It's horses for courses, did not like Robert Lees voice when I heard it.

Having finally got to see episode 1.... Yeah the "how we got here" is a bit tiresome for the dedicated fan, but, maybe a reminder that there was a search for the new, when I hear people say was there a change in presenters they didnt tell us about.... Many people didnt catch the search for the new series at all.
However, foot on aurbag, OK, so I am tall, and again, I drive in UK, so maybe our cars are smaller, but my Wife is a 5ft6, and sat in the passenger seat, even if she were a few decades younger and had the seat all the way back, getting her feet up on the dash... Maybe it is that your American cars are built different?.
Maybe its the thing that you would have to roll the seat all the way back and recline for this to be comfortable, which is kinda how I remember the UK version being tested, and thats why they submarined under the belt?.
I would however have liked to see the crash into the other car done with a disabled airbag just for comparison, with a full XRay scan of the results of that.
But all in all, the result, "Well I wont be riding that way ever again", that works fine for me. The doors off thing?. Did it matter?. Most of the damage was blast related, as seen in the rather gruesome slo-mo... the feet just dont go on that way around?.
The Rocket sword... I liked their testing. However, not so sure if they needed to go that far, but heck, they needed to go that far, because why not?.
As for the interactions of the two together, and Bo, yeah, kinda works for me, its obvious they are working as a team, even with the dog.
So I now will have to wait until next week, but the adverts for the series, look just as promising as the last series?.

From what I've been told the season opener should probably be considered as an epilogue to the search.
From what I can recall Brian and Jon either tended to be on opposing teams, or even if in the same team were not really seen working together. So it makes sense to have the first episode focus and introduce them as a pairing. This might also have been the first episode/myths they filmed*, and while they did a seasons worth of filming on The Search that experience would be different to suddenly being thrown into the spotlight as THE hosts of MB alongside someone you hadn't worked with that much. As such if these were two of the first myths they tested both of them would not quite have the chemistry I'm not only told they have, but indeed seem to show in interviews since then. It would therefore make sense from a production and editing position to use this episode as the (re)introduction episode as it would always end up having a different feel to everything they filmed after this**.
(*TV shows, even/especially Mythbusters, are not always aired in the same order they were filmed. This is why if you look at a list of episodes in a series you will note there is a 'production' and 'airdate' order which are quite often different. I'm guessing that this episode was either the first to be filmed, or at least one of the first. But I don't actually know what the production order is)
(**If this WAS the first episode filmed both Brian and Jon would not have fully settled into the roles, a mixture of shock at ending up as the hosts and getting used to working with each other; Jon has noted in interviews that he was so shocked to win it took him several seconds to realize they'd said his name, and he still can't remember what else was said. As the average turn around for a myth is 7-10 days*** this would mean that if these were the first two myths done they would have worked together for two weeks before starting on the next episode. Enough time for both of them to settle in)
(***The fastest turn around for a full Myth****, as opposed to something they did on the spur of the moment, was 'Are Elephants afraid of mice?' which took less than 12 hours. The fastest conventional Myth I know of, thanks to the Bothan, was 'Bottle Bike' which took about 4 days; some of which they were finishing up filming the 2CV to Bike myth. The next fastest was 'Gorn Cannon' which went from Pitch to completed filming in around a week and a half)
(****Clarification; 'Full Myth' in context means going from idea to pitch to shooting to end of filming; not including additional scenes in the blueprint room which I *think* were/are filmed in batches at a different time. So in the examples above; Elephants Afraid of Mice was pitched, planned and filmed in one day during location filming for one of the Shark Week Specials owing to the weather being too bad for them to go to sea. Towards the end of filming turning a 2CV into a bike part of the 'Transformers' episode they realized they needed something to go with that theme. Apparently everyone's favorite Bothan pitched 'Bottle Bike' within thirty minutes of the producers asking, and filming started on that myth around two days later and took three days or so; Making this a rare example not only of two myths in one episode being filmed at the same time (rather than a week or more apart) but actually being filmed in the same order in which they appeared. Gorn Cannon was, as far as we can tell, pitched by Grant on a Tuesday and started filming the following Monday. Although MB have done Myths faster than this, these were things they did on the spur of the moment when filming something else. Such as 'wet silk doesn't break' from the film Shanghai Noon which was done during filming of 'Salsa Escape')
