In the Mythbusters episode of the shrinking jeans, as Tory, Grant and Carrie were walking out of the clothing store, the store's theft alarm went off as they were walking thru the door. Anyone know what happened?

I would guess the store personnel missed removing or deactivating an anti-theft tag.

Or the clerk just wanted Grant to come back inside  It could also have been some of their electronics, like the mixer box the sound woman carries, that set off the alarm, depending on the frequency to which it is tuned. |

Some manufacturers include extra tags while most stores attach their own ones.
Sometimes they have the correct frequency, sometimes not and you find out in another store wearing the cloths.
I once had bought a jacket and everything was fine - until I had visited an electronics store which happened to use all 3 common kinds of anti-theft protection at the same time. The jacket had one of the latest systems "built in" but neither the store I bought it in nor all other shops I had visited. So I said "no" when I was asked if I had recently bought new clothes. Took 20 minutes to find that thing!

or Kari stuck a tag in Tory's pocket as a joke.
the amusing thing is occasionally the anti theft system will let someone IN with an uncleared tag, but not back out.
