I appear to have an odd issue with Firefox.
For some strange reason, instead of bringing up my normal default page, whenever I go to fire it up it keeps bringing up two tabs that I browsed earlier.
What's more, I also had to re-install Ad-Block Plus.
Do I just need to clear my cookies, or should I be concerned about a bigger problem?
Thanks.

Are you sure you don't have two instances of Fire Fox running at the same time? Check the "applications" tab in task manager and close (end task) any Fire Fox applications that are open. Then try restarting Fire Fox.

When Firefox crashes, it restores your session the next time you start it. To do this, it keeps a file with all open tabs and their history.
When you close firefox, it erases entry by entry from this file instead of just dumping it. So it looks like that when you shut down firefox, it seems to crash or be killed by windows before it erased all tab entries in this file.
Since there are always exactly two tabs left in that file, it seems to be firefox itself crashing on exit. Maybe this file is corrupt and makes firefox crash or give up editing it at the last two entries.
I've just looked into my ~/.mozilla/ folder in my /home directory. There is a "sessionstore.js" file which has the timestamp of the last time I changed any tab in my browser and looking inside, I can see the tab headlines and all the URLs I had opened recently. And since it's Javascript, I have no doubts that a corrupt file could make firefox crash attempting to clear out this script on exit.
So I think all you need to do is to find this file wherever it's stored on your OS and delete it along with its *.bak and archived buddies. In Linux, it's stored in "~/.mozilla/firefox/4dszfkhn.default" (note hat the cryptic number depends on the fingerprint of your computer)

Thanks. check your setting at Tools> options > general and at the top start up. It allows 3 choices home page, blank page or restore last session. Block pop ups is under content.

I ran Eusing last night in case I had a dud file, then backed it up with AVG Free, SpyBot, and Malwarebytes in case I had a virus (I did just recently download some RPG manuals, and so it's possible one of the manuals was a trojan). I also pulled the bottom cover off of my laptop to check for dust (and found a rather horrific amount of cat hair).
Eusing cleaned house, and SpyBot found an ad bot from DoubleClick. AVG Free and Malwarebytes came up clean. And the system's running a lot cooler since I took a duster to the cat hair.
I've not had any issues since, leading me to wonder if it wasn't just a simple system goof or the system getting screwy from overheating.
