R.I.P. (Rest in Pieces...): JATO/Rocket Car
I'd say that they have thoroughly busted that myth.
Other than adjusting the angle of the rockets by an inch here or there, or adjusting the thrust angle of the rocket by a couple degrees - you could argue all kinds of minutiae could be adjusted, but it probably wouldn't have a noticeable effect on the result - regardless, I think it's safe to say that this myth can be put to rest now.

Actually, they need to jettison the front weight they added as the rocket burns. Otherwise, the car will be nose-heavy.

I enjoyed it quite a bit, from a purely production standpoint:
-there wasn't all the bouncing around from myth to myth during the eposide (obviously because there was just the single myth, but still...)
-everyone was working on it, instead of the standard "two different shows" theme (again... single myth).
-We got to see much more of the build process than we have in many of the recent seasons
Of course this was more of a special episode, so the first two will probably go by the wayside with the "regular" season.
And from a non-production standpoint, it was a LOT of fun to watch, even if it didn't really have much to do with actual mythbusting.
My only complaint? They are still giving away some of the results with the teasers. In this case, Adam stated that they'd only use the 2nd car and ramp if the first attempt failed, they they promptly showed a teaser of the 2nd car bottoming out on the ramp. Although to be fair, that really wasn't much of a give away, since the 1st was bound to fail.

And even if the first car had launched, we all know the second was going to be used anyway.

I have to agree with you about not weighing down the front end. Without the weight there, the car would have had a better launch angle off of the ramp. (Upwards rather than nosedive)

Best show they've done for YEARS!!!
The teasers for the rest of the season look promising though. I seemed to notice one where you hear Jamie going something like: "This is the wildest thing we've ever done!" in a tone that sounds much more exalted than we're used to hearing from the Hyneman ;D

Will the be the season that Jamie approaches Adam's level of displayed excitement?!

Probably not, but anything above a smirk and a chuckle is big for Jamie

I loved getting to see the build process again, but then again I love the behind the scenes stuff. I also found myself just smiling watching the episode, even though it meant two classic cars meeting their demise.
It was a long 5 months wait, but it was worth it!

Not sure they can top it.
I loved the episode and thought it was awesome and it was nice to see more of the build process. This season looks to be great with the teasers.

I enjoyed everyone working together (as has been mentioned by others already). It was pretty cool to see them finally tackle this myth once and for all. Could there have been differences? Sure, as I said earlier I wish they would have made some changes. That said, I am happy with the results and do consider it as "Mission accomplished"!

I would love to know if there are plans for future myths that may require the use of the "mobile bunker"...forget the Impalas, that was a dump truck that would make Mad Max jealous!

Yeah, it must have been kinda sad for Tori and Kari that it ended up being stationary after all the work they'd put into that thing. It was freakin' beautiful!

If only I could think of an excuse to build one...then again, do I really need to?!

IT'S FRIGGIN' AWESOME, THAT'S WHY!!! ;D
Do you really need any other explanation?

I hope they keep that truck. I think the can use that from now on instead of the bunker or plate glass.

I'd be willing to bet that, if they stiffened the steering wheel of the RC rig, they probably could better control a car while the truck is in motion.
