If you're still doing reviews, give yourself a treat and see "The Martian". Spectacular novel. Very good (as in almost verbatim at times) adaption on film. Just saw it tonight. It's the best film I've seen in a long time. Of course, I loved the book. Bought it at 5 in the afternoon a few weeks ago, and devoured it by 2 a.m. It was that addictive. You can even read it online for free here: www.readanybook.com/online/565265A tiny bit of naughty language, but all of it in context. You try finding yourself suddenly marooned on Mars and not saying a four letter word... Smart people doing smart things with bravery and style. I saw it this weekend as well. I had NOT read the book, and knew nothing more about it than what the previews showed. I also took my 12.5 year old daughter to it along with the wife and my niece. As Loki said, there's a little language, but it not only fits the context, it's actually funny as well. All in all, I liked the movie and also had no idea it was 2.5 hrs long as it kept me engaged the whole time. My daughter liked it and 99% of it was appropriate for her, with 1 particularly visual scene something I would have rather she NOT seen... but these days it seems every movie has a naked backside in it...

There was one scene of do-it-yourself surgery that might be a bit intense for younger or more delicate viewers.
It's probably the only blood in the movie, and just a moment or two, but I thought I'd mention it.

"Gods" took early flak for not having any actual Egyptians and only one black guy in a film about ancient Egypt. It should have taken flak for wrenching Egyptian mythology to the point that it became yet another big-budget action flick.

Just watched The Finest Hours. heck of a show. www.imdb.com/title/tt2025690/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1I didn't notice any glaring errors or any glaring CGI work. the writers pretty much let the situation speak for itself and told the story in a way that let you feel like you were in the middle of it. if you like movies based on real events, that tell the story without distractions, I can recommend it.

Rogue one.
do I need to do an IMDB link for people to know what it is?
I found one significant flaw in the finished product, I can't tell you what it is without a spoiler, but I can tell you it is a visual effects flaw, and it is more of a "they could have done that better" than a "they broke star wars"
otherwise, some things you can gather from the teaser, anyway: the events take place before "A New Hope." they manage to keep the "so if they have that in this, why don't they have it in the rest of the movies" stuff to a tolerable minimum. the movie is worthy of a big screen and a good audio system, although the audio effects crew may have been a bit more enthusiastic than strictly necessary.

Most of my complaints about the film involved the fact that they were so busy trying to wrench the thing to fit into continuity with "A New Hope" that they forgot something, meaning that the film still manages to contradict a key element despite the radical steps taken otherwise. *spoilers* Those spies weren't Bothans...

Whilst this tread is up and open... The disney Favourite "BIG NEWS OF THE YEAR" Froze. Just let it bloody well go will yer?.. I have no interest, its about 99'th in line AFTER strictly come dancing in my not so well organised list of things that is more like a trash can of stuff that I will not even be bothering to recycle at any point... Anyway, that film that was soooo much "Hot property" Despite this bit {taken from BBC blurb...) If your wanting to see it, take note. See?.. I do care enough to pass on heads up's to people when its a subject I have nae interest in... Anyway, its the BBC's BIG Xmas day film this year, Prime time slot . www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/can-go-christmas-day-bbc-9312997I have no interest at all, because I was "plagued" by the Song, and I have Family who have Young Girls. When asked what they want for Xmas, and the reply comes back "Anything Frozen", apparently, they are referring to the film merchandise, so a bag of frozen peas doesnt count?..
