We have the points system.
Typically an sp30, or speeding in a 30 zone as the code works out at, is a 3 points offence.
Drunk Driving, "DD", starts off at 3 points for being just over the limit.
Dangerous driving, driving without vehicle tax, not having proper insurance, dangerous vehicle that would fail an MOT safety test, all start at 3 points.
Tyres, you get 3 points for a bald tyre.
EACH!....
Yep, they can take you off the road for four Kojac's...
(At this point, if you are being a twerp with them, they may inspect the boot and give you another 3 points if the spare is also bald.....law states the spare must be in working order?..."
When you get to 12 points, you get a ban.
Each offence STARTS at 3 points, but can escalate, for how MUCH you were taking the pith.....
Say you blast past a speed camera set at 30 doing 90, expect rather more than 3 points... more like 9 points, and an extra 3 to 6 for dangerous driving on top....
Drunk Driving, over the top by twice is a 9 ponts possible offence.
3 to 4 times, if you have a clean licence, you may JUST get allowed to drive again...
Your points get cleaned after so-many-years, but they stay with your "Record" for five to six years, again, dependant on your history.
As stated, "New" drivers get a half allowance for two years... thats six points in the first 24 months.
If you get over 6 points, your licence is shredded on the grounds that you didnt learn properly and need to start again.
I think its about 120mph, but there is a certain speed that however clean your licence is, you will get banned there and then, on the spot, for exceeding that speed on a motorway...
--I think its that speed?... I do not have to know.
Why do I not have to know?...
Because I would never do that speed anyway, and I think anyone doing more than 100 to 110 on a motorway should get taken off the road...
Preferably with a Tank rolling over the top of the car roadside.--
Insurance will be adjusted for those who offend.
3 speeding points for a professional driver is almost a professional hazard...
Anything else, we should know better?...
Trade driver or Private, the rest is the same....
DD 3 points is a definite double your renewal price.
Over 3 point, 6 points or above, on Drunk driving, good luck ever getting a renewal.....
9points for speeding and above, many places will refuse to quote.
Dangerous driving points, again, either they point blank refuse to quote or will quote so high you will go elsewhere on your own.
Young drivers...
They ARE the highest insurance risk.
No myth or magic, it is what it is, and thats the way it is...
17 to 25 year old's year after year get involved in more accidents than any other age group... (Including the over 90's...)
So they pay HIGH premiums for having no no-claims bonus.
This is also starting to reflect on multi-driver policies.
If you wish to put Kids on your own cars insurance, unless you agree to draconian tracking policies, you WILL pay through the wallet...
Tracking policies fit a black box in the vehicle that KNOWS what road you are on and what the speed limit is.
They WILL punish you for exceeding the limit.
New laws proposed in UK...
Up the driving start age to 18..... I am in full support.
Ban young drivers from driving after dark..... again, full support.
Ban passengers after dark, unless that passengers is over 25, holds a full UK licence themselves, and, more importantly, is SOBER!.
Not only in full support, this is what I have been involved with....
I was a part of the group that encouraged this to be put in front of the law makers...
Teenage Crime is Rife.
We have a local group of teenagers who delight in putting as many miles on after dark as they can, doing a "Need for speed" experience.
For the moment, they are showing some respect for other road users....
But it scares the living daylights outa me..........
No, Seriously, its scaring the shissen outa me, and I am "Experienced"...
They drive the Norsa (UK slang, a car not quite a Nova, not quite a Corsa, interchangeable in parts, paintwork, "Bling", and two drivers sharing the same single brain cell..)
They drive this thing at silly speeds not quite on all four wheels and trying their best to "drift"....
You get to see them decorate lamp posts out of town quite often.
The police will now have the right to stop any "Young" looking driver on sight and question them for no other reason than they "Appear" to be under age.....
This is in answer to the lawyers trying to make a buck or two with "Prejudice" claims...
The law IS prejudice... by its own interests, its prejudice against those about to break the forking law?
So deal with it.
From now on, young in-experienced drivers, Big Brother IS watching you....
Mostly to keep you safe.
Because from our own books, the best way to get an OLDER experienced driver is to start with a young one,and make sure they survive...........
We aint trying to stop you having fun, we is trying to stop you killing yourself.
