A friend sent me a link to this photo on Facebook about a substance called Aerogel. Aerogel also known as Liquid Smoke a synthetic porous ultra light material derived from a gel, in which the liquid component of the gel has been replaced with a gas. Among the many claims about its supposed magical properties is, the tale that it is meant to be able to withstand a direct blast from two pounds of dynamite. Personally I find this & the other claims made in the image to be more than just a little far-fetched.

(which is to say that rather than withstand the blast, it actually allows the force to go right through it.)
