I geek over the Olympics every two years. I watch what I can - which is to say, as much as doesn't conflict with Mrs TLW's Hicksploitation TV

Full Toss... "Yorkers", outlawed in cricket A "Yorker" is a ball that is pitched around the feet of the batsman and is a perfectly legal delivery (and a good way to remove tail end batsmen). A full toss or "Beamer" is only illegal if it passes the batsman above waist height, when the umpire would rule it as a no-ball.

Hitting the batsman with the ball isn't, by itself, illegal. If it was, the LBW rule wouldn't make sense. In general you can hit the batsman as much as you like as long as the ball bounces first and the umpire judges that you're not intending simply to hurt the batsman (which would be classed as dangerous bowling).
