As of Reading the post by TLW, any excuse to leave later, my family will miss the flight. We also do early morning, as the traffic is quieter, the airport is empty, and its a lot easier when the staff are not rushed... Knowing your way around and knowing which staff to talk to are also of great help (From me working there) I still gets all the security, as I should do, I would be offended if anyone thought I didnt need it, but they already know I wouldnt take the rise. I tend to go into the security checkpoint with the attitude of "you have a job to do and anything I can do to not impede you doing your job can only benefit us all" it is one reason I tend to fly in shoes that come off and go on easily.

The only problem I have is they insist in x-raying my stick. Fine, go do that, but bring the bloody thing back?... its at the end of the "checkout" belt, I am at the other end, how I supposed to walk with one hand holding my pants up 'cos you nicked my belt, no shoes, and nothing to hang on to. I wear trainers, loosely tied, for comfort on flights. I wont take work boots... steel plates everywhere in them.

I think I got a high score on the metal detector.

I think I got a high score on the metal detector. Back when I used to work for Hays, I had to take files to Manchester Crown Court, a stack of about 8ft of them on a box trolley, the metal detector had a nervous breakdown and I had to be given a manual check with a hand-held... took ages... And I had already taken out the Box knife and other assorted work tools and left them in the van?...

I understand the need for air travel security, I really do. But why do so many of the people working airport security seem to enjoy being complete pricks to everyone? Why do many of them seem to love the fact that they can do what SD described and take a cane away from a disabled person and deny you access to it as long as you're in "their domain"? Does that particular job just attract petty, sadistic psychopaths?

Does that particular job just attract petty, sadistic psychopaths? "Its my job to check" Its not their job to care. They process thousands of people per hour and get insensitive to peoples needs. This is why when they unpack your bag, they dont stick around to help you repack it.... They are told NOT to care that much, and go inspect someone else.
