No a Comiccon, but RPG games cons such as Gen Co Uk when they used to do it, and this December I am going to,Dragonmeet in London. It is fun to meet people with similar interests as you and hang out until late. I have met a few famous people who were asked along as guests Authors and Actors.
I will always remember coming out of a late midnight early morning Rocky Horror showing in 1997 to find out the news about Princess Diana, that was a little surreal .

Oooh a gaming con - that's cool, too. I think that was one of the best things about the ComicCon was being around a bunch of other nerds. It's easy to strike up a conversation at any of the tables. And, no popular kids staring you down for what you're wearing .

I never coordinated desire and time - and at this point, I am becoming enough of a hermit that I would probably be more annoyed by the crowds than anything. I did go to a theatre conference back when I was in school, and had a great time - and came home with a $150.00 toy.

I DID make a Jawa eye rig for my girlfriend at the time, which got compliments from the judges. (still have the hardware somewhere - battery powered lights mounted on sunglasses with a set of belt switched to blink them.)

At a gaming Con a great thing is starting a game with a bunch of complete strangers, and ending up friends at the end, I,remember on time playing a Star Wars based war game, we where moving our ships inches at a time, and the other side playing the Empire were crawling along towards us, we thought they had a cunning plan to keep close formation, but eventually we found out as they were Dutch they were reading the move 12' and using CM as a movement scale. We all had a laugh over that. Eventually it ended up that there were people that you see once or twice a year at cons and played similar games to you, in my case Traveller and Cthulhu, and would start again where we left off.

I remember playing starfleet battles (star trek naval battle game) I loved playing the Klingons, because I could do normal Klingon behavior and make it work. ("I know it'll most likely blow out our warp nacelles. do it anyway. we can drive the federation ship back home")

I used to like the Hydran bumpersticker, "if you can read this you have made a serious tactical error " in really small fontwith their Hellbores, Fusionbeams and Phaser Gatlings at range zero they kicked out huge amounts of damage.
We used to refer to Klingons as using "sabre cuts" tactics, swooping in firing disruptors and then pulling away again until the enemy was worn down and going in for the kill. Their weapon recharge rate was better than Federation Photon Torpedoes meaning they fired more often.

one key factor with the Klingons is they are very aware fo the value of life - so if you kill, say, 10 crewmen in the process of getting a starship, you have made a good deal.

I guess it is different tactics that work for different players, the sabre cuts work if you have the mindset to do it, hit and runs also work.

Is that the one that Games Workshop run in Nottingham? Never been to one of their events myself but sometimes they have run good stands at other events, always enjoyed playing Bloodbowl and Spacehulk.

I've never gone to a ComicCon, but I've gone to SF cons, gaming cons, and go to Costume Con whenever it's close enough to drive to.
Kansas City won their bid to host WorldCon in 2016, and they're only three hours away. If I didn't already have a membership for the 2016 Costume Con, I would have bought a WorldCon membership as soon as the news broke. As it is, the only way I can swing two major cons in the same year will be to see how much of a price break volunteers get.

Just got back from Dragon, edt, a little bleary eyed and Hungover, had a good day yesterday played Pandemic on a giant board, some Star Wars WEG, met Joe Dever and Ian Livingstone. Good time, have booked up for Games Expo 3 days in the NEC in May.

Good time, have booked up for Games Expo 3 days in the NEC in May. one of "my" medics likes going to cons. she's been wanting me to help her with armor - but my skillset runs to medival, while she wants fantasy armor - so there's not enough overlap for me to contribute any expertise.
