Maybe they'll have a guest appearance (or an interview) in The Citadel?? Maybe it's time we rethink some of our questions for them, now that they won't be doing the show anymore... Cyber? You think your Bothan might be able to hook us up after it's all over? I'm kind of thinking Jamie might not want to, but if Adam can find the time once he's done with the filming and stuff, he might. Can't hurt to ask, right? never know, Jamie might LIKE to talk geek to geek.

Adam is a fanboy in so many ways himself and I think that's why he has that respect and love for fans. But yeah, you never know. I'd certainly love it if Jamie would do it. Maybe even more than if Adam said yes, because I wouldn't expect it from Jamie

We MUST keep this board going. This is my daily entertainment for the morning... I would miss it if this place went?...

OK, in what might pass for the right order;
I have no intention of closing the board down if you guys and girls intend to stick around and chat. Its not like it costs me more than time to run things. I would be keeping things PG-13 (since only two sections would be hidden from passersby), and will be locking the show ideas forum and eventually sending it elsewhere. I won't delete it, as people have put a lot of time and effort into posting there. But will want to find a way to move it off the main board so there is room for new sections.
I've been trying to get an interview with Adam for a while now. I suspect that he's going to be WAY to busy to do an interview at the moment, and it may be difficult to get in touch with him after he's done filming.

Good to know Didn't really imagine you were any more keen on shutting this thing down than the rest of us. I've been trying to get an interview with Adam for a while now. I suspect that he's going to be WAY to busy to do an interview at the moment, and it may be difficult to get in touch with him after he's done filming. If your Bothan is in any way close to Adam, you could get him/her to let Adam know at an opportune moment that we'd still love to hear from him. You know, a moment where they're winding down, but not quite out the door yet.

Can the rest of the board please back me up here, but, this board is possibly one of the greatest reference points on the web for modern urban past and present myths that there is?... The ability to put new stuff in there is part of what makes this place this place... We can continue creating the best reference there is ever likely to be. And who knows.... Maybe the MB's will return some day? You could re-name it Myth Reference, or something like that?. Part of who we are is our ability to put in one of the highest forms of modern science. Common sense. Our ability to look "sensibly" (Ok, and a little Loki...) at some of the common miss-beliefs out there and work out what is and isnt possible, or even what may be possible, is part of what bought us together, and part of the glue that keeps us here?. Just because we dont have a show right now doesnt mean we loose that interest?... Come on folks, back me up on that. And I for one enjoy a good new myth to sink me teef into....

Don't close that section. Just because there's no show called MythBusters anymore it doesn't mean there aren't still myths and common misconceptions out there that we might be able to handle ourselves. Part of the fun of coming here is hashing out what's good science and what isn't, learning from each other's knowledge and becoming smarter because of it. And, as Ironhold wrote, some of the things we might even be able to test ourselves if someone here has the right idea, the knowledge of how to do it and access to the things needed. Explosive myths are out, of course, but other things might not be and I think it would be the ultimate tribute to the MythBusters' legacy if we could keep that going, even just for relatively simple things.

For example, consider the idea I had for testing the aerodynamics of newspapers. Most everyone has a few extra bucks and a convenience store with a rack of newspapers; around here, at least, enough people buy the Sunday editions (which have coupons) in bulk that no one asks questions anymore. Newspaper bags themselves can be purchased commercially (I'd have to get the name of the company we buy them from), or failing that you've always got rubber bands (how rolled papers used to be bound) and sticky tape (for keeping the flat ones flat). My personal experience leads to a specific conclusion to the hypothesis, but that doesn't preclude others from discovering variables I've missed, variables that might impact the way things turn out.

I certainly get enough free papers stuffed through my mail slot that I could easily try rolling/folding some up and take a couple throws in the back yard to see how it turns out. Whether I'd be able to replicate how your newspaper behaves would be a question mark right now, as different countries use different types of paper and thickness could also be an issue, but for a basic test, I might be able to provide some data points if I had an afternoon to kill.

I'll take the idea of keeping a 'Mythbusters' section on the board under consideration, not show ideas since that isn't exactly what it would be for. It would be nice to try and keep some of the Mythbusters spirit alive....actually in a perfect world we would be able to come up with ideas that members could test, film and then post the footage online for us to see. Hey, who knows maybe someone might impress Adam enough that he might want to do such things for tested once in a while.
The show ideas section as it stands takes up a large block on the main board and no longer needs to. So I'll want to be changing that.

Are we to keep the name Citadel of Myths?.
Maybe rename the myth section to something other than "Show" ideas, maybe (suggestions welcome) Myth Magic and Sense?.. or even "Myths to be Tested"?..
When we all first came here, it was an important part of the board. No we cant resist change, but we cant change why we came here...

The name will stay, as changing it would cost money I don't have.
I'm looking at the admin functions and it seems that trimming the show ideas forum (now renamed 'old show ideas') would either require deleting the entire board. Or creating a new board and manually moving all posts there - which I would be happier doing but which will take quite a while.
I will when I get the chance to trim things down a little create a new ideas section, as I will want to put in a modified version of the existing disclaimer. Basically along the lines of 'if you try this at home you do so at your own risk'.
