In short, folks?
Save your money.
In a nutshell?
The whole twist-within-a-twist-within-a-twist ending in and of itself is enough to ruin the film.

In short, folks? Save your money. A movie so bad all that needs to be said is "save your money." That's the kind of review I like. Short and to the point.

Take 60 seconds and create a list of all the usual twist endings for horror movies. The writers of this film did that. ...and then crammed them all in at once.

The film has Krampus as a Freddy Kreuger type who, along with his minions, lies in wait for a time in which a person's belief in Christmas is absolutely destroyed, at which point they make hateful wishes in their heart. These wishes free Krampus to run riot over whatever town the person lives in. The person who made the wish is given a bell with "Greetings from Krampus" engraved on it and allowed to go free as a witness to Krampus' might. Literally everyone else, regardless of how innocent they are, is slaughtered. Not even animals are left alive. Yeah. Massive mangling of the original traditions.

So someone put's their depravity on film, and everyone rushes out and pays money to see it? Right. A real blockbuster. Coming next to a video game near you.

The thing is, films like "No Escape" and "The Equalizer", while bloody, provide a context for the violence that takes place. With "No Escape", an American engineer (Owen Wilson) and his family arrive in an unnamed Southeast Asian nation as part of a project to upgrade the nation's water and sanitation system. Although living conditions aren't as good as they're used to, they vow to make the most of it... unaware of the fact that the enormous cost of the project was the final straw that motivated several top members of the military (and their civilian allies) to launch a coup against the government and anyone they regard as being involved in the "foreign takeover" of their nation. Thus, the engineer and his family must flee a brutal uprising. (The coup leaders think nothing of, for example, using a tank to destroy an office building simply because the building houses a Western-style corporation; it doesn't matter that the workers were all native residents.) With "The Equalizer", a retired CIA operative (Denzel Washington) goes vigilante, in the process killing a brutal pimp and his henchmen in the mistaken notion that their deaths will keep his girls from being hurt. This comes back to bite him, as the pimp was actually the local man for a powerful Russian crime syndicate; the only way out of the mess he himself created is to keep killing his way through the syndicate until they're so badly damaged that they can't hurt his friends & co-workers. But this? Even perfectly innocent people go down just because.

Here is an idea, if "Special snowflake" is denied cutting in line at a supermarket, perfectly innocent people get wasted.... I am not saying anything else in case some special snowflake out there gets an idea for a stupid film. If a whole town gets wasted because one person gets "Black thoughts" in their heart, there would be no town left on earth, and "Goths" and "Emo-kids" would be public enemy number one... Along with all teenagers.... I need to shut the hell up before I give someone an Idea for a script dont I?...

I just read a "Local newspaper" review on Krampus. If you havnt had you Christmas spirit destroyed yet, this will do it for you. The writer said he didnt stay for the whole film, and wanted his money back, because it was a waste of his time, this genre of film is specialised, and not general release, viewers should have better warning about its content, and if the only thing he could do is benefit people by being that warning, his job here is done. However, if that is your kind of film, go ahead, enjoy it you twisted people, personal choice makes it what it is.
He does suggest there should be a money back if your not satisfied option for people who leave a film in its first hour. Dysfunctional family meets up for Christmas... havnt we "Done" that all before?...
He asks is it supposed to be "slapstick" comedy or Dark horror, because, although based on Folklore, it makes an attempt at both, without actually doing either. He did make mention of "American werewolf in London" which he believed was the last good comedy horror.... Kind of gives his age group away right there....
In Conclusion, having read the rotten tomatoes and other reviews about the place, I am intrigued. Is this a film thats so bad its good?... Played for cheap laughs?... do certain annoying characters "Get whats coming to them" and so fulfil holes in our own dark characters?...
I suspect I may tune in when this hits TV screens just to see what all the anti-hype was all about. However, I have better things to plan for.
The reviews I read are "Mixed", and if you read them all, they all have stolen other peoples words, so did the reviewers just Cut-and-paste other reviews in place of their own words that they cant be bothered to write, or, is it just a case of apathy over a not-so-good film?... that no one has yet to see?.. just goit the general idea from doing exactly what I am doing, reading other peoples reviews?...
I cant answer that. So I will revoke my own right to criticise, and, suggest you either trust our own viewer, Ironhold, or go see it yourself, just dont expect to be entertained, as its not a certainty, but is a speciality for those who have dark sense of humour and like their horror with a little slapstick.
I also ask that the reviewers who we sort of trust out there in page one of internet results get their act together and do what we expect of them, go see the bloody film and not just copy someone else's review. I think we are all a little to internet savvy these days to not notice you copied your review from someone else... did you really think we would ONLY read your review?...
When you have a list of films you may want to watch, thats enough to invite you to go see maybe the new star-wars instead?... in that, you already know, its worth the watch.... maybe....

do certain annoying characters "Get whats coming to them" and so fulfil holes in our own dark characters?... Yeah. About that. The death toll includes: *An infant who is last seen being spirited away by Krampus' minions *A DHL driver who was in the wrong place at the wrong time *A snow plow driver who - by all appearances - just wanted to get the job done so that he could get home to his family and give them that last set of presents. So it's not just the guilty who get it. It's everyone in the entire neighborhood, good or bad.I understand now why the theater makes it a point to provide an extensive selection of alcoholic beverages: there are just some movies where you don't want to go through them sober.
