I forget what the official title is, but I like mine, anyway. spoiler alert: I have a new favorite mishap. juicing tomato by explosives: I was just getting all set to demand a control test - and they did it. it actually turned out to be much easier to test than my first instincts said. shrimp cannon: more along the lines I was expecting - a staged video. all I can say is maybe if they rifled the cannon to cook evenly

For the Shrimp Cannon myth, the shrimp looked a little too perfectly cooked in the video. That and the way the footage cut between the shrimp hitting the target & the shrimp perfectly landing on the plate told me that it was staged before any of the testing even began. For the Tomato Juice myth, here's the official English-language website for Kagome. They started out making tomato puree all the way back in 1903, and have been expanding their product lineup since. I would imagine, then, that the commercial in question was for one of their vegetable juices, but I'm having trouble locating the full commercial on YouTube.

I did kinda think the video with the shrimp was faked but it was fun to watch them try. I didn't think there was enough eggs for the shrimp when they tested it as on the video it was almost a flood.
Tomato was interesting.

I forgot to mention about the tomato, you can't really blow it up so to speak, so really, it's busted. LOL

I must admit, I was just as surprised by the tomato thing as Adam was. I didn't think it would work at all! Truly awesome! The shrimp thing...? Meh... Not so much. Anyone with half a brain who's spent enough time in a kitchen to just have seen someone cook even the thinnest slice of meat should be able to summize that a short trip through a flame wouldn't do squat to cook those shrimp. They didn't spend nearly enough time in the heat to get cooked. It was a really cool setup and I loved the idea of the triple sword forge as a last hurrah, but ultimately we all knew it was going to fail.

I will start off by saying that it seems like A&J are actually enjoying themselves and having fun this season. I do believe Jamie might have laughed. They really must've said 'Screw it, this is our last season. Let's go big before we go home.'
Not surprised by the flying shrimp result. The results reinforced common sense that you can't cook something by grazing it with heat. The only thing I wasn't expecting in that segment is that Adam couldn't say 'Bubble Wrap', is that a trademarked name?
Explosive Juicing. Definitely surprised by this one. I figured the explosives might tenderize the tomato but not necessarily increase the amount of juice given. Enjoyed the final 'ramping up' for the myth, even though they were left with more fruit salad than fruit juice.
New quote for the book of great quotes -> Jamie (holding his shrimp cannon): "Eat shrimp and die (insertwordhere)"

To be honest, I didn't expect the shrimp cannon to work as well as it did. (No surprise on the speed-cooking part .) And I expected the blasting cap to break the tomato's skin at a much further distance, though the shrink wrap might have been helping there.

I think the shrink wrap definitely helped with that, though tomato skin is pretty durable, all things considered. I think the tomato may be fairly close to the density of water, as well, which would help the shock wave be more of a massage than an impact. another good control would have been to simply roll and press the tomato on a tabletop to see how much juice that freed.

Just watched this episode last night, and enjoyed it. As with everyone else, the tomato juicing was result was a surprise; I did not expect there was any chance it would work, much less as well as it did. With regards to the shrimp, it was a really fun set up. The fact that they, along with anyone else watching, knew it was never going to get cooked, trying it anyway was awesome! Of course, I didn't expect the tomato to juice, so you never know until you try I guess. The only 'criticism' I would have is the egg wash didn't seem to be quite as dense as the video appeared to have. I would also have loved to have had some tests done with just the ingredients to see how well coated the shrimp was before ever even trying the cooking. Does shooting it through everything work at all? I know the 1 they showed only had a couple bread crumbs, but they were hitting the bubble packaging pretty hard, perhaps that knocked a bunch off?

I was a bit surprised the sabot was used with the base forward, instead of like the shotcup in a shotshell. I would have expected the other orientation to work better.

I knew the shrimp tempura video was totally fake, but the ways Jamie and Adam built their rigs were fun to watch.
The explosive smoothies didn't surprise me, but for a rather depressing reason. That's essentially what happens to a human too close to an explosive. Perhaps this was testing Jamie can use for his body armor business?

FOUR sword forges in a row and its still coming the raw prawn.....
This episode aired in UK last night. On Going Further with this, which was done well anyway, but "For the sake of further experiment", One thing I would have liked to see was a rig that allowed gravity to drop the prawn through the forges to see if a lower speed helped, or even something that allowed a slower speed on say a trolley pulled through, just to see what kind of time a tunnel cooker required to cook the prawn.... not being able to replicate the result sort of showed it was busted.
Otherwise, "staged video", you guess?... I think we all knew it would be staged from the start, but the test was worth the effort just to prove that beyond all doubt. This was definitely busted.
Juicing the tomato. Nice. I didnt expect any of that, even to the point of one and a half inches being a butter zone?..
Large scale lake test... Erm.....
Where was the inbetween?.
I would have loved to see what exactly it would have taken to do a pineapple in the same way beyond blasting it to compost fodder...
But enough of the whining, I watched with interest, any complaints I may have are covered in what time it would have taken to do further experiments so I really had no complaints.

It seemed to me that the large scale lake test was an excuse to visit on of the Mythbusters favourite locations for one last time, or is that just me?

Just how do you "large scale" such an experiment anyway?... and if that should include a visit to the lake, why not?. I say subjecting fruit to a close encounter with underwater high explosives is a valid test.

IT did serve to show the difference between an explosion in an enclosed body of water and a larger free body I guess. So I guess it was a valid test.
