That V8 above sounds like the timing is off.?. On the "Ricer" 4-pots with the stupid exhausts, thats crude ricer treatment, and having s stupid loud exhaust doesnt get much kudos to real petrol heads, the restrained reserved power that doesnt shout at you is more preferable, unless its an actual track race, where loud comes with the performance however hard you try to muffle it.

On the "Ricer" 4-pots with the stupid exhausts, thats crude ricer treatment, and having s stupid loud exhaust doesnt get much kudos to real petrol heads, the restrained reserved power that doesnt shout at you is more preferable, unless its an actual track race, where loud comes with the performance however hard you try to muffle it. the idle is just a WEE bit low. and the timing possibly has shifted. one of the problems with finding good engine noises on youtube is people feel the need to talk over it, or keep bumping the throttle. a properly tuned v-8 will either have a quiet steady chuckle, (the parade engine at idle sounds roughly like a singer sewing machine taking a long seam in good fabric) or a steady lope. any crackle, despite what youtube "gearhgeads" seem to think, is just the sound of poor tuning, unless you are building a full on race engine, as in 1000 BHP or more.
