This show was fun to watch. One part was predictable, the other was quite surprising. "Duct Tape Seatbelt": I didn't give much credence to this from the start. Duct tape is not very good for absorbing sudden shocks or impacts. The actual seat belt shaped like duct tape & the first attempt at taping Buster to the car both failed without much question. Adam's last attempt with duct tape covering the entire torso did allow Buster to survive, based on the sensors, but the actual result to a living person would probably be different. "Duct Tape Trebuchet": Admit it, we'd all love to build a trebuchet. Just because. This was great to watch, to see A&J return to testing & creating and revealing the science/engineering behind the trebuchet. Watching it in action was AWESOME! And, yes, setting an inflatable shark on fire was a very appropriate end to the show.

I thought Buster died on the final (full-torso wrap) crash, because there was no "yield" in the system and he took everything the car frame took?

Buster did die in the last test. The G-shock load was massive (500?).
I loved, loved, loved the trebuchet! I have always had a soft spot for the ancient weapons episodes, and this did not disappoint.

I thought Buster died on the final (full-torso wrap) crash, because there was no "yield" in the system and he took everything the car frame took? Go back to that video I keep posting (I wont for brevity here) on the Fifth Gear Smart car crash. Yes the passenger cell "Survived" the crash and stopped the car crushing the passenger... Its just that the forces involved were not absorbed by anything, so went straight trough to the passengers, so internal injuries from that sudden shock would have killed them?... In that, a Duct-Tape securing you to your seat, depends on the shocks that are not absorbed by the frame of the vehicle. My own car has seatbelt pre-tensioners, that in event of a crash, with snap you back in your seat and hold you tight. It has been proven that this helps, in that it allows the seat and belt to hold on to the passengers and keep them back whilst the frame and bodywork of the car absorb much of the impact. So in that I enter for discussion, yeah, the dummy was held in place. Now it depends on the crush ability of the vehicle to absorb the impact. The better the NCap rating of crash test, the more your car has "Crumple zones", the less that frame passes through the seat, the less impact shock you receives.... I also renter the five-point racing harness with HARMS helmet tether that I am used to in racing... You are strapped to your seat in a way that prevents movement. The vehicle takes the crush, you survive?...

This aired on Discovery SCIENCE channel last night, far away from the series finale, as "The lost episode"...
Annoyed I am that it would not have been caught by my series link?....

The Science Channel or Discovery Science, depending on your part of the world, is the new home of the entirety of MythBusters.
