You'd have to be nuts to say that the wall is THE solution. You'd also have to be nuts to say that a wall shouldn't be PART of the solution, at least in some locations. And here's some free advice, and worth every penny I might add. Don't believe everything, no, make that don't believe ANYTHING you see on the T&V or in social media. It's all been stapled, bent and mutilated to fit SOMEONES agenda. nope says the wall is THE solution. There you go again. Believing (and repeating) what you hear on MSNBC. Here's a list of what nope is actually requesting for boarder security, including 234 miles of wall (not 2000 miles as some fake stories report). This is in addition to the already funded budget for boarder drones, cameras, manned aircraft and other high tech monitoring equipment. Note that the $5.7 billion for a wall is the lesser of the total of what he is asking for. $5.7 billion for 234 miles of a new physical barrier like steel. $563 million for 75 more immigration judges and staff to work on hundreds of thousands of cases backlogged in courts. $571 million for 2,000 more Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. $211 million to hire 750 additional Border Patrol agents. $4.2 billion to support 52,000 detention beds used to house illegal immigrants. $800 million to care for those in custody, including medical support, transportation, and temporary housing and medical facilities. $675 million for inspection technology at southern ports of entry. www.washingtonexaminer.com/washington-secrets/list-what-nope-wants-for-wall-border-security

So what’s your source for your “fact“ that the only thing nope wants for the southern border is a wall?

So what’s your source for your “fact“ that the only thing nope wants for the southern border is a wall? the fact that he equates the wall with security, despite everybody pointing out how ineffective walls are.

EVERYBODY is saying that? I don’t think it’s everybody. Just those opposed to anything nope does. Kind of like the same people that were all for a wall when Obama was president, but now claim any wall is immoral. So nope just invited a bunch of Republican and Democrat congressional leaders to a lunch at the White House to discuss border security and reopening the government. Not one Democrat showed up. You want to explain again to me where the problem is?

The wall as DJT is selling it is a waste of taxpayer dollars that will have little to no effect on the immigration problem in the US, like many government projects. It's not s substitute for a real overhaul on the whole immigration system.
However, This seems like a perfect way for the DNC to score some major points with the public and they are so focused on their half of this temper tantrum that they are completely missing the opportunity that is looking them in the face.
The DNC should vote for the $5.7B to build the wall. This is a tiny fraction of what the US government spends*, that is really doesn't make a differance in thelong run.
1. It ends this childish spat and the government employees can get back to work and the shutdown ends. 2. We have 5.7B in infrastructure spending that will help various communities. 3. When the wall is built and it fails to be more than an annoyance to people crossing it, they can then say "We tried it your way and it didn't work, now lets try something else."
This is a perfect opportunity for them to come off as heroes and set themselves up for a future victory, but they are totally blowing it. Talk about stealing defeat from the jaws of victory.
*Budget for FY2018 was 3.422 T, so the wall would be about 0.167% of the total budget.

Well, he has to do something with all that leftover fast food.
