Something that came to me earlier today.
How common, let alone popular, is denim clothing outside of the US?
I understand that it's popular in Latin America and Japan, but that's about it.

I remember in the 90s, the common thinking was if you were traveling overseas, you would fill your suitcase with Levis jeans and trade them for any clothing you wanted.

In Scandinavia, it sort of depends whether you just mean jeans or if you're including jackets as well.
Denim jackets were popular in the 80s and 90s, but you don't see a lot of people wearing them anymore. Jeans are still widely used by pretty much all age groups, although there's been a tendency lately for young women especially to go for thinner, more stretchy fabrics. I don't mean spandex or something like that. Just fabrics that are lighter than classic denim. Some of them are still made to look like denim, though.
May I ask why you're interested in knowing this...?

Here, it’s everything from clothes to computers to even cars. But to be honest, I haven’t seen any ads so far this year for denim. Not that I’ve been looking.
