it came up over the holiday that much of the Internet-Of-Things model is based on encouraging lack of intentionality. I.E. log onto your fridge from the store to see if you are out of milk. but then the idea came up that having a house full of smart appliances could actually revolutionize typical family habits. for example, with a smart fridge, your child/grandchild can now upload their kindergarten artwork directly from their tablet to the refrigerator, and not have to waste paper actually drawing it.
can we come up with enough other uses for the IOT to generate a thread?
