Saw this on Facebook, but it was posted in a "closed" group. It was a stock photo though, so it's likely out there somewhere.
The photo depicted what was supposedly a self-driving car. It was enclosed in a white circle with sporadic white lines outside the circle, reminiscent of the arrangement many jurisdictions have in place to indicate a "do not pass" area on the road.
The caption claimed that if you used salt to create a circle like this around a self-driving car, the AI would interpret this as indeed being a "do not enter" type of arrangement and so the car would refuse to move until such time as the AI was disabled or the ring was broken.
Can a self-driving car be so easily fooled as to refuse to move if it's surrounded by such a circle?

it is a current complaint that the Tesla autopilot will stop for no apparent reason.
and on the subject of self driving cars, I just realized the biggest benefit of self driving cars in the US is we will be able to achieve less than one person per car on the road, once self driving cars become common.

We could stay home in bed and just let the cars go out and create the traffic jams on their own. What a time saver.
