Well, looks like the camera decision was made for me. My wife got a DSLR from here Grandfather's estate. It is a Nikon D60 with the 18-55mm lens. There may be some more accessories coming, but that's what we have to start with.
So anyone have any recommendations on SLR how-to's?

3. Lack of image stabilization. It amazes me how this camera can blur even the most stable setup. 4. Zoom is a joke. It is almost impossible to get a non-blurry picture with amy amount of zo 6. Night and low level pictures are always blurred. Even using the flash. 3. How was mankind able to make photos before digital cameras with picture stabilizer were invented? On my Chinon CP-5 I can go down to 1/30 with bare hands, even 1/16 with a 28mm lens. 4. The more zoom you use, the harder to focus and the more light you need for the picture. 6. The Auto focus needs to see something in order to adjust the focus. Try to adjust a pair of binoculars with your eyes closed… The A/F is looking for vertical lines in the pictures and probes the lens motor left/right until the line is as narrow as possible. If there is not enough light to see clear lines in the CCD noise at high gain, the A/F won't work. For low level light photos, you need a camera with a real wide lens to allow more light on the CCD or you need to look through the lens with your own eyes and adjust manually.
