Wasn't that episode supposed to be on tonight?
I tried to tune in, and got a show about Alaska.

We just had 239 people that probably died in an airplane crash. Maybe Discovery figured it was best to postpone airing it.

It had been pulled from the rotation before that. Last week was the season finale. This episode is tied up in litigation by a man who claims Discovery stole his idea and then used it for MB instead of his show he had pitched. Not sure he has a leg to stand on, because I remember this being discussed on the old boards. The other episode we won't see is a car-related one that features round abouts vs. 4 way stops.

Why did they decide not to air that episode? if you are asking about four way stop, I would assume it has to do with the boarding a plane episode being paired with it - and they would have to have a new paired episode for it.

My comment on the roundabout idea: it sounds good and looks good on paper - but you can't convert a traditional intersection into an effective roundabout by simply placing an obstacle in the middle and making people dodge it.
hence while it may be superior in traffic flow, it will frequently be difficult to implement. - and it will only make a difference on intersections that have traffic loads above 32 cars per minute.

In Portland, we did just stick obstacles in the middle, but they are designed to slow cars down, not make intersections more efficient.

My opinion of traffic circles; light traffic, a 4way stop is better. Moderate traffic, they work well. Heavy traffic, chaos. Personally, I'd rather not see them.

They did one of those here - just stuck an 8 foot planter in the middle of the intersection. In Astoria, they actually made a full size circle - in the middle of highway 101 - that impedes traffic flow.

so... three years ago he pitched a show to discovery. I remember watching the teasers for mythbusters before I married my wife 10 years ago.

It sounds to me like the guy's saying "I refused to play ball on 'Penn and Teller Tell A Lie', and so in response they stole my ideas!".
Thing is, if you read the comments section, someone asks him whether or not he had an agent with him whenever he was speaking with the Discovery people... as if he didn't, then he was practically begging for this to happen.

Notice that the guy in question is also trying to claim credit for lower viewing figures for MB, rather than accepting that the lower figures are probably a result of the show moving to a Saturday.
Anyway.
This particular subject was banned outright on the Discovery Boards, I suspect because it is a legal matter and someone kept going on there and trying to cause trouble about it. I'm not going that far, but would ask members to avoid speculating too much on this (as I almost did myself). All we have on this so far is the word of the man making the claim, as (to the best of my knowledge) neither Discovery nor Beyond Productions have commented on the matter. In the latter two cases this is probably because it is in the hands of their lawyers.

I won't speculate on this either for the same reasons you won't, but I'll just say this: If there's any truth to this at all (and I hope there isn't) I really hope Adam and Jamie will do something about it. I know they're not to blame, but they're the figureheads of the show and the vast majority of the public will see it as their fault. Their integrity is on the line and with the impact they've had on popular culture, that's no small matter.
