I had it once. I woke up (I don't know what woke me up), but when I did I found that I couldn't move. I consciously sent impulses to each individual body part to see if anything would respond. Curiously enough, I got my toes to work. I wiggled my toes hard enough for them to move my feet a little, at which point I eventually got feeling back in my feet. I then began to move my feet around aggressively enough to where my legs were twisted around, and in time I got sensation back in my legs. With my legs working, I used them to spin myself around in bed. In time, the spinning somehow got my arms working. It took only a few seconds in actual time to become mobile again, but I never want to go through that again. Sounds like classic Night Terror symptoms. I can understand why you wouldn't want to experience that again. I had them on several occasions as a child (I still get them from time to time even now as an adult). The first few moments of waking are absolutely one of the terrifying experience you can EVER experience!

Analyse this.... I dreamt last night I was back at School. Except I was me as I am now.
The school has been demolished, New super-school replaced it in the 90's, and the last part I can remember is a sort of football field sized tunnel from old school to the new.... With Roof. Obviously no such structure exists in real life.
Strange part was, I have no reason to even have any passing thoughts about that school... It failed me. As in, it failed, and I was there at the time it failed, so me and about 180 other kids were failed by that school in that year, we all agreed to put it down as a life fail and move on, at least we had friends and it wasnt a complete bore. So for the school, I dont care about it one part. I did all my worthwhile education after I left school. I have never been back, its a part of my life I closed the door on and just moved on, in the same way you close the door on say a 12 hr flight that bored the (censored) outa you.
The friends I kept from that time are still around, and no major incidents are noted at this time.
So why is it one of those "This is important" feelings I get?... That school has exactly no effect on my life, it scores zero, its has a less than background noise interest to me, why should I be bothered?... why should it feel important?...
And no, dont ask that I go there and "Find out", I have less than even a passing not-interested in this. Its about as welcome as the door-bell going and finding a double glazing salesman there on Sunday Lunch.... If that salesman knocked again after five mins and asked you to explain why you were not interested, that is about the same way as I feel about this school knocking on my memories.
So why the feeling of "Impending Doom" that I may have missed something?...

All I can guess is that it represents some sort of transition.

I had the mother of all odd dreams last night:
I dreamed I was assisting the build team with a myth. - I believe the myth was something to do with falling down a hill with minimal injury, as the dream started with Kari tumbling down a talus slope. the bizarre part of the dream: I was assisting as a competent helper (off camera, and just as competent, not as an expert) I had memories of assisting in the past. I was able to talk to Kari about matters both work related and inconsequential without being a star struck idiot. During the dream, nothing about it seemed that remarkable.

Unconscious admiration and/or infatuation for Kari? possible, but I also met Mr. Kari, and I would not expect that to happen in a dream based on infatuation. That definitely changes the meaning of the dream. Perhaps you're foreshadowing that someday, somehow, you may become related to the Byron's?

In real life, one of the big draws with discount chain Dollar Tree is that they offer $1 "grab bags" featuring vintage comics, vintage trading cards, and/or vintage CCG cards. They have arrangements with different companies who buy these overstock items and bundle them for sale.
I had a dream last night in which I was going through several packs of such cards; I recall thinking that I didn't remember getting them, and so they might have been gifts.
One set was a large pack containing trading cards from assorted TV shows. At least half the pack contained Transformers cards, representing a mix from different sets. A few cards depicted characters from the 1986/7 assortment, one card depicted Transformers merchandise released in Japan by Takara (the company who produced Transformers product for sale in the country), and two depicted concept artwork from an unused comic book pitch.
One of the non-Transformers cards in the set was a Scooby-Doo trading card. On the back, it listed broadcast information... for a broadcaster in Iraq. I want to say that the card in question was from within the past few years.

In real life, Brigham Young University maintains BYU-TV, its own in-house TV station. Although originally meant to air educational programming, religious programming, and BYU sporting events, over the past few years it's branched out into original programming. This includes "Granite Flats", a popular period drama in which an explosion at a military base causes a small town to experience a Red Scare all its own. Well, I had a dream in which they decided to kick things up a notch by acquiring access to a lot of vintage kids' cartoon programming in an effort to expand available offerings beyond Cartoon Network (the only basic cable channel in the US that still airs non-educational kids' programming). I vaguely recall them having classic Disney shorts and even some sort of Flintstones show.

had one recently that #2 dog was harrassing the bedroom cat (both of whom sleep in the bedroom at night.) - but outdoors in the daytime. I was yelling at her in the dream - to the point I woke up Mrs TLW.

So there were all these circus & zoo animals let loose on my street.
I saw a camel, a bison, some donkeys, a wildcat, and a few other critters.
All I could think about was how this would be a spectacular photo for the paper.
...And how I couldn't find my camera.

last night featured an interesting one. an alternate timeline me (younger, single, and in a different region) was caught in the path of a firestorm (I believe it was a wartime scenario, though I wasn't a soldier - but the ways out of town were impassible due to mines and other deterrents to travel) I was sharing a house with my brother, and the option available to us was to shelter in place and hope we survived the fire. in the course of the dream, other people came knocking (apparently the house we were in was the one with the highest likelihood of survival)each with supplies or ideas that would improve our odds. I remember we debated trying to set a backfire vs defending the house with sprinklers (the surrounding vegetation was pretty green, but we expected the firestorm to be hot enough to burn it anyway) I also remember we decided to help everybody who came regardless of who they were or if we'd disliked them in the past. I also remember that the people who came in included my childhood crush. the dream ended on the projection that it was a wartime disaster of apocalyptic proportions, and I would end up leading the group of survivors in search of food and shelter and a new place to live; while trying to preserve human kindness in a post apocalyptic wasteland.

So I'm shopping at this big-box retail store.
I find a table that's packed full of discount books and DVDs, so I stop to take a look.
The books are all religious in nature. Most of the books are various collections of church hymns from different groups and time periods, and so I'm not immediately interested in them. However, some of the other books are "Why _____ is a cult" books, and so I go to skim a few of those.
In the process, I get to looking at the DVDs. Said DVDs prove to be a mix of overstock and close-outs. Most are brand new, but a few have the "used" tags that chains Suncoast & F.Y.E. would use. Among the DVDs are a large quantity of anime and several American children's cartoons, including volumes - and even full season sets - for different series that I've been trying to complete. This very much gets my attention, and so I begin searching through those.
Problem is, the worker who piled everything on the table did so in such a fashion that he succeeded in making a keystone out of everything: trying to move any one book or DVD results in others sliding around (which was, in fact, how I noted the DVDs).
So there I am, trying to get a handle on all of these books and DVDs. To help keep myself calm, I start singing to myself. The song? "New Year's Day" by U2 (which IRL was on the radio yesterday).
Thing is, one of the store workers (who in the dream I knew from church) didn't recognize the song and so thought I was trying to have a conversation with someone.

You are a control freak. You have been trying to keep everything under control recently, and are getting stressed out. Some of what you are trying to control is outside your sphere of influence, yet you feel you should be involved. People do not understand why you are trying to help.
Your own mind is trying to tell you to back off, and let someone else do the work for a change. After all, its THEIR problem, not yours.
Will you listen?...
I am going to leave it at that, because I think maybe you may know what I just said, maybe you have a different meaning for my words that what I intend, but, maybe your own meaning is more important to you than mine?...

Latest one:
The Fantastic Four movie franchise is getting another installment. The name of the film is simply going to be "Firor", with the last three letters enclosed in a box and an umlaut on top of said box (leading me to wonder just how I'm going to get the name right for my movie review). The people doing the film decided that, instead of the cast of the previous film, they're going to use a bunch of models to play all of the roles. To say that the film is a train wreck would be to denigrate train wrecks.
The title of my review winds up being something to the effect of "Firor is not the hero movie you need."

either You are having some very odd dreams, or have you got this cross-threadded with the Film revues thread?... since I haven't heard of this movie, I suspect it is a very odd dream. I think the first of my options is actually par for the course here with Iron.... Would that make it a Firor Iron?... Hello little birdie. (Golf joke?..) [edit, are we OK with making jokes at the expense of screen names here?... after all, my own is a joke, Dragon, but silver because its an OLD dragon....]
