I've been having issues with Google for the past few days now.
There are times where I can access it without issue, but times where no matter what I do it won't come up at all.
This is particularly frustrating, as the newspaper I'm with uses Google Drive as a drop box for all of our documents.
Anyone else having issues?
Thanks.

Got to love "The Cloud". That is, until it starts to rain.
But to answer your question. No, I haven't had any problems accessing Google. But then, about the only Google products I use are the search engine and maps.

What browser are you using when you have the problems? Or, are you using the Google drive app?

I'm using... Chrome, believe it or not.

It could very well be an issue related to your network locality or the way that your connection is being routed to a particular Google server. Even a simple internet connection to a server down the street is going through half a dozen routers, switches, firewalls and servers whereas a long distance connection could be going through dozens of devices. If any of them aren't working properly you can get connection failures.
As Google themselves say: "The techniques that Google Drive uses to connect to Google servers depend on the browser, browser version, and networking conditions, among other things" so there's clearly a range of variables to consider and networking problems are always much harder to resolve when they're intermittent.

Another good reason to keep your data inside your own computer. My computer never has a problem connecting to its hard drive. I'm not a fan of this cloud computing. I want to know where my data is. The cloud is convenient if you need to access your data from a number of devices but even that is possible using a VPN without storing your data in some unknown off-site location. Yes, you do need a back-up strategy, but you also better have one if you depend on the cloud.

Anyone think that it might help if I ran CCleaner?

Something I've noted is that for some sites, when I go to pull them up I'll get a "resolving host" message among the other messages about things loading.
Could that be a clue to something?
Thanks.

The biggest clue for me is that you're using Chrome. It was recommended to me a while back and I tried it for a few months. It didn't do better than Firefox, but it didn't do worse either. At first... A couple of updates later and I had nothing but trouble with it.
Switched back to Firefox and I've been a happy web-surfer ever since.

There are problems at Google. You may be aware of the "Right t forget" laws being introduced. There is also this thing called "Heartblead" virus.
Goggle is getting along quite fine, just struggling with traffic at the moment. Normal service will be resumed as soon as they work out what the (beep) is normal.....
Chrome, useless. Its full of spyware and tracking.
I have settings that turn off most of google trying to remember what I search for, it makes google search faster.

I e-mailed the assistant editor about the issues I'm having, and he said that he's been made aware of server issues at Google.
I guess that's the issue right there, and if nothing else he at least knows that I'm trying.

Would a different service like Dropbox work for what the paper does?

Google's a common and easily-accessible service, and so that's why the paper likely went with it in the first place.
