I found this video while scrolling through Youtube that purports to show how, with just a few everyday items, you can turn a warm room temperature beer into an ice cold drinkable beer. That won’t explode in your face, in just 60 seconds. The poster of this video also says you can use this method for soda & it won’t fizz up/explode when you open the can. Sounds like a total load of BS to me but I thought the Mythbusters might have some fun testing this one.

I think this was actually included in their chilling beer special. (though without the power tool) - using a salt water/ice slurry would accelerate the process further.
the one that I found absolutely amazed me was to hold my warm-truck warm soda directly in the path of the air from my AC (set on maximum cool) it not only exposed the soda to a significant chill factor, but also refrigerated the exposed metal of the can - which was sufficient to chill the soda to drinkable temperature as I sipped.

From what I gathered watching the video they used just plain tap water. What I don't believe is that it would chill the beer down to the drinkable temperature in 60 seconds with just plain tap water, without making it go all fizzy & exploding when opened.

What I don't believe is that it would chill the beer down to the drinkable temperature in 60 seconds with just plain tap water, without making it go all fizzy & exploding when opened. this is just a mechanized version of what people already do. it doesn't agitate the beer vigorously enough to trigger outgassing, only enough to circulate the beer so that it all comes into contact with the inside of the can.
