The belief is that the great wall of china can be seen from space....
However, I am seeing some sources that say this has been disproven?... Some say its "Natural" colours cant be distinguished from the local geography. Its made of rock on rocky outcrops of the same colour....
But... certain Highways, and Airports, CAN be seen from space.
And can they distinguish what "Space" actually is when they do this. Is space a certain distance from earth, does it start at the moon, how close do you gotta get?>..

IIRC the original quote was that the Great Wall of China was the only man made structure that could be seen from the Moon, and was made long before even Sputnik 1 had been launched, it later morphed into "from Space". It was at the time an unprovable statement, that has later been disproved.

I have been looking... and there is some internet confusion....
Some sources say 58 mile up, some say 60, some even say 62 miles. Some sources say it differs due to the atmosphere, and how warm the planet below is at that point, as the definition of space is out of the atmosphere.
Wikipedia...
So its 27 inches. Being pedantically sarcastic, read on for an explanation. The standard length of a piece of string as set by Me in 1987, after I got fed up with people asking how long is a piece of string when they just didnt know the answer....
Someone has set a "Line" as the boundary of space for record keeping just to set a standard height, because everyone else kept arguing about it....
So, "Seen from space" can be anything that can be seen from high altitude of 62 miles, or so we choose the ISS, or the Moon.....
No one has yet set a standard for "Seen from space", as in, if its claimed it can be seen from space, what standard of space are they using.
And do we agree with their standard....

as for the claim - it is not wide enough, being about the width of a two lane road. - and there are plenty of manmade structures that have more of both width and length, giving them a larger potential to be seen from space. - even at the time the claim came about.
