There is a long standing myth (Sheesh.. first line and already with the puns?..) LONG standing myth that cows can predict rain... and when they do, they lie down.
You aint testing this one in California, are you?... what stand about for week waiting for rain?...months even?...
Has this ever been tested?....
Its part of the rural folklore in UK< we all say cows lying down are expecting rain. But then again, it rains so regularly here, how would you test this?...

But then again, it rains so regularly here, how would you test this?... yeah - never seen a connection. cows stand up and lie down as they see fit, and it has little to nothing to do with rain. but you could add the myth that cows start the process of giving birth by knocking down a fence and crossing water.

The BBC show QED examined this back in the 1980s, they found no correlation, between rain and lying down.

Yes its been tested.
Cows lie down when they get tired, not because it is going to rain.
