The title is the myth... the person widely believed to say those words at the end of WW2 didnt actually say that. What he said is "Peace for a time", meaning it would be peaceable for a "bit"......
Now apparently there is Video.... I think this may be it... but please read further before you comment?...
Now I aint sure is that is the actual video or not. Two reasons.... One being it may not be the original speech. Two being the original first time he said that, or he said what he was supposed to say, "Someone" some bright spark, the origins of a "Spin doctor", suggested that he change it to what we now believe was intended.....
However..... Antiques Road Show last night, his great grand daughter (I think?..) absolutely believes he originally said peace for A time.....
The above posted video. Buggered if I can work out what he is saying, 'cos my lip reading aint that good, and for some reason the sound has decided to "go away" on my computer for a short vacation...
(you just know that it will involve me getting under the desk swearing a bit and finding a microscopic plug has detached somewhere inside?..)

there was neither "peace in our time" nor "peace for a time" in that particular clip. that clip is speaking of a treaty between him and Hitler - which leads me to think that it is not the correct speech for the title of the video.
that notwithstanding, remember there is an option 3: which is his words were "peace in our time" but his meaning was "peace for a time" as in "peace in our time, but not necessarily in our children's time."
