I'm just curious, but how difficult would a swap of a Buick 340 for a 1971 four bolt Chevy 350 be? The transmission is (probably) a THM400, so would it have a BOP pattern bell housing and I would need a Chevy bell housing, or does the 340 have the same pattern as the Chevy 350?
I'm asking because I'm (mildly) interested in a 1967 Buick Lesabre with the original 340 (C$800 OBO), and presumably a THM400 (if it doesn't, and has, say, a Powerglide, then I would just replace engine and trans altogether).
Since the 340 was only made for two years, parts are not easy to find, a 350 would be easier for a daily driver than a 340, otherwise I would just stick with the original engine.

The Chev is the odd one out, all the other GM engines share what is known as the BOP (Buick, Olds, Pontiac) bellhousing bolt pattern.
If the car has the Super Turbine 300 (Buick's version of the Powerglide) you could switch to a 200 4R with the dual bolt pattern you can use whatever engine you want and have overdrive.

So, I should use a pre '78 Olds 350 instead of a Chevy 350?

Or will a 455 fit in a '67 Lesabre?

Anyone know what engines will physically fit in a '67 Lesabre?
