Raw veg is better for you.
Cooking Onions increases the number of digestible nutrients in the onion. Other veg has similar qualities. Cooking any veg also helps dispose of the risk of salmonella... These veg have to be picked and packed, who knows who has handled them..... or what.... I have seen Chicken pecking at vegetables in someone's veg patch?....
Plus some veg is ONLY digestible when cooked.

Plus some veg is ONLY digestible when cooked. certain nutrients break down when exposed to heat - and in those cases, cooking decreases the efficiency of the nutrient - and cooking to death can make a greater decrease in efficiency. however, as said, sometimes an inefficient nutrient will break down into a more efficient nutrient when exposed to heat. it all boils down to the fact that nutritionism could be considered a religion. millions of details, and most people pick and choose what they want to adopt; and frequently adopt rules that have no basis in reality.

I'm not a big fan of veggies. I don't like them raw and can just tolerate them cooked. So for me, the question would be; "Are cooked veggies better for you than no veggies at all"

So for me, the question would be; "Are cooked veggies better for you than no veggies at all" yes. vegetables do have nutrients that other classifications of food don't have - however, as far as I know, no vegetable has a monopoly on any one nutrient, so if there is a vegetable you particularly dislike, you are not obligated to force yourself to eat it. which means that yes, you can live a full and productive life without ever eating a lima bean.

I had the very good fortune that my mother's grandmother made a concoction sort of like waldorf salad with celery and walnuts and raw cranberries, and as I recall, mayonnaise. her father always made her eat it, and it always made her throw up. the side effect is that there are several things that I have never been forced to eat. on the other hand, I like a lot of vegetables, so vegetables weren't an issue - but I don't eat lima beans except in baked beans. however, I will not eat tomatoes or mushrooms unless they have been rendered completely unrecognizable. ketchup is borderline.

she finally discovered how to get zucchini into a form my father will eat: zucchini bread. (which renders it essentially unrecognizable)

I had sensible parents who never EVER forced the issue, and never tried to "Disguise" food. If I said I cant eat fish, they supported that, up to and including attending my school on the day they tried to force feed me Fish and defending my inability to comply.....
"You can tell that its friday Just by the smell The fish have all done time In the Strange-ways Hotel...."
Quote from a local folk song about a local Prison. In our school, fish started cooking at about 6am... served at 12:30....
For me, it has always been, when my kids say "I really dont like that", I believe them, and will try to find an alternative... never force the issue, we all have different taste. Except of course the one time one of them DEMANDED that the actually LOVE Lemon flavour Yoghurt..... Yes, because they said they love it, they ate the whole pot... No they never ate any again.

I had to teach Mrs TLW's niece the difference between can't eat, and don't want to eat. - the girl claimed to be lactose intolerant, but ate every dairy product except milk and yogurt.

I was forced to eat plenty of things when I was a kid and so was my girlfriend. The result is that we have one rule: You can't say you don't like it, if you've never tried it. Keep an open mind. You might be surprised. If you try it and don't like it, whether or not you ever try it again is completely up to you. Just remember that your tastebuds change thoughout your life, which is why old people can eat vile things that the rest of us can barely stomach to look at. What you like now may taste like a pile of rotting dung when you're 30 and what you hate now may become your favorite food in 10 years if you try it again.
