If it was just the temperature drop (which IIRC someone else already tested), it should have affected the Colts' balls as well. And I'm with Greg -- if the point spread had been 6 or 7 points, that would have been different, but a final score of 45-7? The Patriots just plain outplayed the Colts. which even some colts players have said. Doesn't justify them cheating.

Were the Colt's balls also deflated ~1-1.4 lbs from their initial pressure? If not, how could temperature possibly be the explanation?

I don't know if anyone looked at their footballs.

If the Patriot coaches didn't say "hey, it's cold enough that the balls could be affected, test the Colts and see if that's what happened", then they are too dumb for words.

Assuming that the Colts had not already tested and adjusted their own balls?...

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that once the balls are tested by the refs before the game no one's supposed to mess with the air pressure. If the Colts adjusted their balls for the temperature conditions, then they were breaking the rules.
Has this thread gotten to the point of typing up a summary for the Finished Submissions board?

I think the suggestion was that the patriots could claim the colts may have adjusted pressure before anyone suggested a comparison be made. - which you have to consider, took us two weeks to mention and we are more observant than average.

ABC News is now saying a Patriots locker room attendant tried to slip an unapproved special-teams ball into the AFC championship game. No one's saying whether this is the same person who detoured into a restroom with the Patriots' game balls for 90 seconds before handing them over to the refs.

Sadly, nothing will come of this and I think the NFL is just hoping we have forgotten it.

You mean the usual delay in investigations and the like until no one or most people cant remember what all the fuss was?....
Like what they are trying to do with Gulf War investigations?...
That would be a conspiracy... wouldnt it?.... [/sarcasm...?..]

the text messages they quoted imply the two "conspirators" were overinflating them.

Aware and ready to sign balls that were of his liking. He knew. He was in on it. Thats cheating... isnt it?... End of story?... I suspect not?...

but it just occurred to me - the article implied the underinflated balls might be smaller.
