The search engine that doesn't track you. Cut and paste from their search page... DuckDuckGo. duckduckgo.com/Its the default search engine of my likkle toy the Raspberry, but, I see no reason why it cant work in other browsers..... So bog-off to google(we is watching you) and maybe give a likkle try to the competition.... Why?... because as its not tracking you, less "traffic" to generate your search results. No "Sponsored Links" either?... Ok, so I am going to search for Wally, have a look at the two results for a comparison.... duckduckgo.com/?q=Where+in+the+world+is+wallywww.google.co.uk/search?q=where+in+the+world+is+wally&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gws_rd=cr&ei=Tq3IVJaNLM-v7Aao54FYAnd just what is all that alphabet spaghetti after that search phrase in the google link anyway.... Keep in mind, I am offering you a choice, its getting my thumb=up, but the eventual choice is yours.

I was actually meaning to ask you about something else Firefox-related, so since you're already on the point with this post, here goes:
What the heck is Lightbeam good for? I know it can show me who's tracking me, but can it do anything that prevents the trackers from tracking me? What do I need that information for, except to make me paranoid?
Since you beta test things for Mozilla, I thought you might be the one to ask.

I believe Ixquick.com and Startpage.com also do not track.

Since you beta test things for Mozilla, I thought you might be the one to ask. For the above. (Ghostery) and others like it. Note how more people are getting into "Who the hell is looking at me"?... paranoia?... or it is (Rightly so) what are people making money out of spying on me?.. if they paid me, it wouldnt be so bad... ... and doing something about it?... It has shown the users the truth, and now people want to stop it, it has created demand. Its opening the discussion. Because of light-beam, more people are aware of being tracked, and asking why should we be tracked, and perhaps doing something about it.... Like asking NOT to be tracked. We give away a lot of data for free.... And people are making money out of us. As a torch in a dark room it has illuminated the way, but its not there to be responsible for moving the obstacles?...

No, that's what I gathered from the description too. It's only there to inform, not to remove. But Ghostery can do both, right?

Ghostery does it in a much more manageable way as well.

Ghostery does it in a much more manageable way as well. Thanks. I'll check that out then. And just to stay on topic, I discovered DuckDuckGo about 24 hours before you posted it here and it really is good. Typed in a 4 word search earlier today and instead of getting the usual pile of crappy advertisements from Google on the first 4 or 5 hits, I found exactly what I was looking for in the very first link.

Just be aware that certain sites will report back they have "found" what you want just to attract traffic... Especially Photo sharing sites, flikr and the like... Yeah, I know, they do that on all search engines, its just your not immune from false results.
I have contacted Norton to spread its own toolbar safe search to cover DuckDuck.
