This is what happens if you can get 120mph out of your small "family" saloon....
Note the wording in the video....... "This is like crashing two cars head to head at 120 mph each", in other words, they have taken on board the investigations and science by Mythbusters. How do I know this for sure?... because prior to the MB's doing "that" test, they would have said two cars doing 60mph head to head with a combined crash speed of 120mph, as was previously believed by many....
**warning** for the serially offended, I must now say the following...** For those of a nervous disposition, do not watch. For those who own a ford focus, this is a MUST watch, especially if you like a little mile munching heavy footed get a move on up the M6 when you think no one is watching.....
As for me?... this is why I keep within the limits these days. The experts, including me, have seen enough evidence to know better.
You may ask why I have posted this. In the video, the presenter states this is the fastest Crash Test anyone has ever done anywhere in the world?... False?.. havnt the MB's done faster crash tests?... I suppose it depends on how you define crash tests. And are the MB's interested in doing one better?...
After all, we can all get our hands on Mercedes cars which are limited to 155, and some even faster vehicles.... I wonder how many people would drive their car that fast after watching a similar one hit a wall at top speed.

I am going to use this thread more, to show what kind of test results can come from a British TV show. The presenters on this show, some of them used to be Top Gear presenters, but decided to spin off (pun intended) to do a "More serious" show, Fifth Gear.... I am not doing this to blatantly promote this show in any way, I am doing this because crash testing is part of the Mythbusters Ideology, and I think some of you may find the following fascinating. Be warned, some of the following video's may contain scenes of real life crashes...?... This is every day scenes to me, I may be a little hardened to scenes of roadside devastation, but some visitors to the site may need this warning.
BTW, MIRA, the company mentioned in the video's, is a company who specialise in Engineering and crash testing.

Truck Hitting A Bollard
I never thought Bollards would be so good. As a security device.
This also answers some questions about "Hollywood" and crashing through gates.... Are gates sooooo easy to just crash thorough?... Apparently NOT these days?...

Flipping a Convertible.
I have never ever ever wanted a "rag top" car, I will not want a convertible, however long I live, untill I see one that has been crash tested, race enginered, and contains roll bars and devices I know I can trust. Why?... Because I have been upside down in a normal car, three point seatbelt, it bloody hurt, and seeing a nice solid roof below me assured me I had at least some protection.... You get the idea here?...
You think I may be scared of being thrown out of an open cockpit if I wasnt wearing a belt maybe?...
Is that a Myth there?... Will you get thrown out of a open convertible in an accident, are you more liable to sustain injury, when compared to a closed normal car with just the widows open?....
Personally, before watching the video, I believed fully all of that.
I have driven on race tracks, open cockpit cars, five point harness, roll cage, and all the toys you need to make it safe, and in that environment, with a skid lid full face crash helmet, it was good... I felt some degree of safety... On the road?... No thanks. Perhaps the below video explains why.....
My Friend has a convertible, perhaps I am now justified in not wanting a ride in it?....

Big OLD cars, Size matters, Might is right, and therefore are better than new small cars... Worth noting, that the Volvo used, and older one, pre-dates Airbags here, they have significantly upped their game, newer versions are soo much better..... How much better?... I dont know, because the comparison has not been done... yet.

I have to interrupt proceedings, just for interest, because this came to my attention.... Its billed as "The worst crash test ratings of all time"..... I would review it as some of the worst you can find. You can find worse... But would you drive them anyway?... Noted, some of the vehicles are Ancap tests, American equivalent of E-Ncap?..

The Ford Transit has an Encap rating of Five. (Its the only Transit type light van that gets anywhere close to that...) So what would happen if you tried a headbut against one?...

Stretch Limo.... You are partying like there will be no tomorrow. This is a 50mph test.... With internal passengers. Just think whilst you watch, what would be the result if one of them was hanging out of the window showing off... But watch anyway, and know why I have actually refused a (well paid) job driving one.... I cant stand the responsibility if it all went wrong... even if its not may fault, someone is badly injured?... I cant do that.

I would imagine their claim to the fastest crash test ever includes the fine print that they are testing the crash performance of a passenger car, because, large hadron collider.

The above post, testing the "under-riders" back bumpers of trailers.... how some of them fail that badly, I dont know, but, I am left wondering, are they safe enough for me to use as a step whilst climbing into the back even?...
ALSO. Some light has come on why "American style" trailers put their wheels at the back. (Of the trailer that is...) It prevents that kind of intrusion by a car, it CANT get underneath the back because of the physical presence of the wheels...
Well, now I think about it, that makes sense?...
Watch the one at 4:40{ish?} where at 35mph, the back trailer bumper snaps off completely.... About as useless as a chocolate fire guard?... THATS SCARY!
And remember, this is JUST 35mph....
