Camera firmware updates.
For ANY brand of Digital comera.
Why?...
If you own a DSLR, the firmware shipped with the camera, may have had one or two slight glitches in certain area's.
Its an operating system....
Exactly the same sort of thing as the wind-bodge operating system, Linux, MAC operating system on any PC or android.
So yeah, the support from your hardware makers may find a better way of doing things and remove those glitches.
For instance, here is a quote from a Cannon update indicating one reason for the update...
So how to do an update?..
First find out what firmware you have.
Do that in your camera settings.
Then simply open up a new window in your browser and search firmware update and include your own camera make and model number...
For instance, my own Cannon EOS 350D (Rebel) would be
[canon eos 350d firmware update]
Which would find This page
web.canon.jp/imaging/eosdigital2/e3kr2_firmware-e.html
Note the warnings....
You require a fresh charged full battery, and a BLANK formatted memory card.
You download the file, and for this post I am using windows, open the download file, and click on that file to extract it. then copy the file extracted to the memory card you use.
Once you have the file on the card, you pop that in the camera, and turn the camera on.
the cannon system automatically checks the card.
If that card has a firmware update on it, the camera will do its own thing from then on, and update its self...
DO NOT press any buttons or turn the power off at any point until its finished.
That page has all the required information you need, or, search for your own camera, and read the page fully before you start.
Final note, I am posting this for reference, if anyone has anything that can be incorporated, let me know, I am happy to have edits made to the post as necessary.
If you have anything useful for your own brand of camera, do please post that below...?....

This firmware update incorporates the following improvements:
1. Fixes the phenomenon of shots being unable to be taken when using the remote controller RC-1.
2. Fixes the phenomenon wherein the camera continues to scroll through images being played back.
3. Improves reliability in communication when using some CF cards.
This firmware update applies to cameras with firmware versions up to 1.0.2 installed. By installing this update, the phenomena will be fixed, and the affected cameras can be used without these problems. If your camera's firmware is already version 1.0.3, it is not necessary to perform this update.
